Long hired Bielema. That was enough to turn me off on Long.

Could not care less about perception, and Coach is probably not looking for advice from the fanbase anyway.

What about the ethics of rushing to judgment based on incomplete information?
|1 week 6 days ago||I don't think it's that||
I don't think it's that simple, and I don't think you know either. Let's stop pretending we know all the facts. Harbaugh has so much as warned us about being judgmental.
|1 week 6 days ago||I don't disagree, but do we||
I don't disagree, but do we really know enough of the facts to judge the ethics of the matter? I would say no, so we have to trust in Harbaugh until he gives us reason not to. This isn't it, IMO.

I'm serious. Not all at once obviously, but with that sizeable amount of a jackpot, I'd create a charitable trust with 50% of the net payout and spend the rest of my life giving it away. This is basically what Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Mark Zuckerberg have signed up for, because they have come to the realization that there is no way they would (or could) ever spend their fortunes on themselves. 25% of the net, which could be on the order of $75 million, should be plenty to take care of me and my wife for the next 50 years.

Half to charity, 25% to my kids, 25% for happily ever after.

How is that clear? And what qualifies you to determine whether he's a B1G caliber quarterback?
If you're one of the coaches or something, then cool, thanks for the posts.

Nonsense. If Martin's process hadn't "stunk," to use your very apt word, we wouldn't have hired RR. There were other suitable candidates who could've taken over without trying to reinvent Michigan football. Martin had basically two problems - (1) he followed essentially no process, using some sort of serial approach until he got someone high-profile to bite, and (2) he had no knowledge of or interest in football, and didn't rely on those within the Michigan community who did.

JUB does a great job and I appreciate his work, but I think he takes it way too easy on Bill Martin. Martin may have had the respect of the league, and he apparently did a nice job with fundraising and building projects, but his careless approach to first dealing with (or more correctly, not dealing with) the impending retirement of Lloyd Carr, and then the way he went about hiring his replacement, was a complete and utter disaster that we paid for until Hackett finally got it right.

|9 weeks 6 days ago||I like this. But I don't||
I like this. But I don't think you can assume "Central" is what you use when all the directions are taken. For example, CMU is damn near the middle of the lower peninsula. Even if it was the first "directional" school in Michigan, "Central" would seem appropriate, and certainly more appropriate than any directional heading. I'd lump the Centrals of the world in category 3.

I'm in Orlando. I do not consider Tampa to be "south Florida." I've always thought the name of USF was curious.

Really unfair. I'm pretty sure Coach Durkin wasn't out on the field, missing all those tackles. He did a great job this year, and I'll think well of him no matter what he chooses to do.

I went two years ago for the 4OT crapfest. I believe it was a 3:30 start, and we drove all the way from Detroit that morning. I don't recall the traffic being all that bad on the way in, but leaving was a different story. We stayed about an hour west, but it was a slow and painful drive, made worse by the outcome of the game.

Personally I'm done buying bowl tickets from the AD. Been screwed too many times, most recently for the 2012 Sugar Bowl. Requested the best, most expensive tickets possible, and got stuck in the nosebleed section in the endzone. Meanwhile, there were much better, empty seats everywhere. I'm a season ticket holder, but I don't have a zillion points, which I assume is the problem.
If I'm going to make the trip, I'm not going to skimp on the tickets. Way better off buying direct from the bowl venue or, if that's not possible, buying on the secondary market.

Giving credit to the M alum from ICCT for uncovering the VW fraud is a bit of a stretch. ICCT actually contracted the research out to the Center for Alternative Fuels Engines and Emissions at West Virginia University. The guy who led the research team is Dan Carder.

A little OT, and this goes way back, but I remember sitting in the student section with my older sister when George Cavender was the band director and the band had just started the "let's go blue" song and chant. The band was playing it seeminlgy between every play, and the students were getting so sick of it, that instead of chanting "let's go blue" they started chanting "fuck you George." Now that's original AND classy!

Personally I chant "Go Blue" at the end. I hear a smattering of people doing the same in section 36.

Brian, why is it so disappointing when a federal agency actually respects its authority instead of trying to overstep it? Maybe just a matter of perspective, depending on what side of this issue one is on.
