County fairs equal the start of football season for me. The Sandusky County fair was usually the last week of summer vacation and that meant football was starting.
I nominate Space Coyote for the Analytics Coordinator position. Even if that means we'd lose his analysis. I know nothing of his background, but he's been someone I've come to trust on here and Twitter.
I have a spreadsheet I created back in the day using newspaper box scores, not exactly scientifc, but I'll see if I can dig it up.
Oregon Clay his senior year was his best individual performance. He was amazing in the playoff game against Massillon but it just wasn't enough to win the game.
Speaking as someone living on the west coast with no opportunity to attend a Michigan game, short of the rare Rose Bowl appearance, this game recap is way too negative. I would love the chance to attend a boring Michigan home game. Although, for me, no Michigan game is boring, ever. I don't care if they're losing in a 52-14 beat down in the Gator Bowl, losing at home to Toledo or beating Delaware by a 1000 points. I love football, period. I also love Michigan football. So to suggest you would want to leave during the game is preposterous.
I just took my daughter to her first football game this past Friday, this was played in 30 mph winds and there was probably 100 yards of total offense in the first half and a 0-0 score. This was my local high school that I have no vested interest in, but I would have stayed had my daughter not fallen asleep.
Perhaps I'm crazy, but I enjoy watching any kind of football and I wouldn't complain about a 29 point victory, ever.
How many years did they whoop his ass? 2 or 3? Then he whooped theirs for the rest of his career. Keep clinging to those 2 glorious championships 25 years ago.
Sure 2002 OSU had some journeyman NFL players, but 2002 Miami had Pro Bowlers.
OSU:
Michael Jenkins, Chris Gamble, Mike Doss and whatever you want to classify Clarett. In fact, most of their better players were underclassmen on the bench (Bobby Carpenter, AJ Hawk, Will Allen, Nick Mangold). None of those players strike fear into me.
Miami:
Willis McGahee, Kellen Winslow, Vernon Carey, William Jospeh, DJ Williams, Jonathan Vilma, Antrel Rolle, Kelly Jennings and Sean Taylor are the key players. Add Frank Gore and Vince Wilfork off the bench and that's a scary college team.
I was raised by a single mother that didn't watch sports at all. My grandpa only watched golf. So growing up in Ohio I became an OSU fan. Until I watched them lose to Iowa at home in 1987. I was 8... Been a diehard Michigan fan ever since. Talk about being fickle.
My best memory is of Jim Thome when he was with the Indians smacking homers in batting practice off of the back wall in the upper deck in right field. The stadium was very cozy, something you don't get with the new stadiums.
Yes I did. He was a physical beast with speed. He was also a very highly touted recruit. Mike Hart was the underdog. He was short and slow. I am only talking about their Freshman campaigns here. Compare the stats from that year. Peterson should run over people and not go down. Mike Hart over achieved. That is why I would take him, he fought hard and earned every yard. Plus, he was likable and very easy to root for.
What bothered me the most about Mike Hart's freshman season was all of the hype that Adrian Peterson was getting at Oklahoma. Their freshman year stats were very comparable but Mike Hart was the undersized underdog that did everything. I'd take Mike Hart over Adrian Peterson any day of the week, at least at the collegiate level.
I obviously love what CW brought to Michigan. Most of all dominating OSU (being from Ohio and all). I just always wondered what could have been. It's not like Clarence Williams was highly recruited or anything nor did he really produce that much during his Michigan career so he had no competition in his own class.
I'm not saying Freshman Woodson would have played in front of Junior Biakabutuka, but he would have split carries, no doubt. Then in 1996 and 1997 he would have been the star. I was never really impressed with Chris Howard or Chris Floyd, they were just bodies in my opinion.
I understand he enjoyed defense. No one was going to watch him play safety in High School, I'll tell you that much. I certainly remember him running for 335 yards and 7 TDs against Oregon Clay. He also dominated Massillon Washington in the playoffs for 200+ yards, unfortunately they lost. Can't say I remember one stand out defensive play, he looked adequate, but he didn't look like the superstar he became.
After watching every one of Woodson's games in High School, I was so excited to see what he could do offensively at the next level. It's not every year that someone puts up 2000+ yards and 38 TDs in Division I football in Ohio. He was a High School All-American at Running Back along with DeAndre Hardeman (Texas A&M) and Ahman Green (Nebraska). Looking at the 1994, 1995 and 1996 running back commits, he easily was the best of the bunch and I have no doubt he would have dominated. I don't think it would be out of the question to think he could have put up a Heisman campaign at RB as well. Alas, he chose defense, that's too bad...
Hawk says "He gone!" after a strikeout. After a home run he says "You can put it on the board, yes!!!" I will agree he's a homer, but I wouldn't call him boring.
Growing up in Fremont, OH I was an OSU fan like most other people. That was until 1987 when I went to my first game, OSU Vs Iowa. I was 8 and apparently very fickle because OSU lost the game and the next week was OSU Vs Michigan and rooted for Michigan. They lost the game, but I've been a diehard fan ever since. Watching my hometown hero Charles Woodson have an incredible career against OSU was awesome as well.
that he was close to a record for the season, but the last 3 games, as we have seen, are extremely efficient. Using percentages then he is responsible in one way or another for a TD 13.33% of the time. That's production I can get behind, just like all of these numbers.
One stat that amazes me has been his TDs per touches (runs + pass attempts per touchdown) over the last 3 games. Over the last 3 games he has 75 touches and has accounted for 10 touchdowns either running or passing. That means he accounts for 1 TD every 7.5 touches. The 9 touch 2 TD game vs. BGSU certainly doesn't hurt those numbers.
I'm curious what the record is for a season. Right how he is responsible for 15 TDs on 194 touches or 1 TD for every 12.93 touches.

Neutral site games don't classify as road games? They certainly aren't home games... Although I'd like to forget that Alabama ever happened.
Also notice the 1-7 record from 1998 through 2005. Yuck.

CMU officially announced Thomas Rawls' transfer yesterday.

Woodson played running back and safety in High School. He also returned punts and kickoffs, obviously.

It's a shame the whole song is basically NSFW but Rabbit Run by Eminem on the 8 Mile soundtrack is great to get pumped up.

I love me some Kovacs!
Watching this video makes me want Danny O'Brien... :(
That could have been Matt Wile with a chance to win the game had Hoke not stolen him from BSU...

Mark Buehrle pitched 15 consecutive PERFECT innings in July 2009.
I think they may have a PG in Jeff Teague if the first 2 games of the Bulls series are any indication.

are the reason I come to this site every day, I have my friend Russ to thank for this. I love stats and this is like heaven for me.
