When is the recruiting dead period over?

Just thought it was interesting for him to be so close to Birmingham AL and Leesburg GA for two certain recruiting targets.  Nico and Aubrey....I was under the impression at 00:01 this morning the dead period was lifted

CHAOS -

behavior so unpredictable as to appear random, owing to great sensitivity to small changes in conditions.

LIKE IT, LOVE IT, WANT SOME MORE OF IT

I was wondering

what about Ed Orgeron?   He is is d-line coach at LSU and I do not see him getting a promotion this year.    He has a good connection with the south as well as west coast with USC experience.   I have seen his name pop up with Syracuse but in my opinion it would be a good hire

Bit suprised to not see Lyons locked in a spot....

figured he would have a lock at CB.

Also Freddy Canteen isn't listed on either Offense and Defense.  I dont recall but is he injured?

Retiring Jerseys vs. Retiring Numbers

I always was under the impression that retiring a jersey meant the number of that jersey could still be used.

Retiring a number is having the number completely retired and not able to be used.

Does anyone know if that is correct?

With that being said, #11 #21 #47 #48 #87 and #98 would still be able to be used by an active player.

I didn't see in the rules where you have to keep it to 5

So:

QB - Brian Griese $1

TB - Anthony Thomas $1

WR - Braylon Edwards $4 & Derrick Alexander $1

DEF - Charles Woodson $5 & Ty Law $2

Coach - Mr. Jim Harbaugh $1

TOTAL $ - $15

Anyone surprised

Desmond Morgan isn't on the list?  Maybe it's just me.

Strange....

I just followed the link and opened the PDF "quick facts" file and noticed something a little strange.  Why is Jay Harbaugh not listed under the assistant coaches heading?   Just kind of seemed odd to me.  Hopefully they get this fixed.

Best of Luck....Mr. Miller

I have no doubt that you will find success in future endeavors.  How many people can say, not only did I play D1 football, but I was the starting center for Michigan.  On top of the personal success on the field, earning that UofM degree is a feat of its own.  Well done and GO BLUE!

If stickers are going to be added

I do think they should look like this.....but we really should ask Dave Brandon his thoughts.

Dave, suggestions please?

I REALLY REALLY LIKE AND BUY INTO...

Mattisons reply to having the NFL experienced coaches who can quickly make the adjustments needed.  It makes total sense when he says that NFL caliber coaches can do it quickly vs. coaches with little experience who need to be coached first then proceed to coach the players.  I imagine this will help with the development factor 100%.  I'm ready for the season.

Maybe Rudock is coming to UofM for...

more than just a chance to play the 2015 football season.  Looks like the kid is an all B1G academic award winner.  So he could be actually looking to capitalize on coming to Michigan for both a chance to compete for a starting role as QB as well as completing a graduate program for one of the finest graduate degrees a person can receive.

I like that he is from St. Thomas Aquinas which if he comes and finds success could be a huge benefit for the coaching staff to use when visiting the Florida recruits.

Random thoughts: Nuss being hired in the first place

was always kind of a real head scratcher to me.   As a UofM fan I believed it looked good on paper but it seemed to be a little random (maybe not the right word to use).  My "conspiracy theory" is that Hoke was told by AD Brandon that Borges was to be terminated or Hoke's job may be put in question.

By no means do I think that Borges was holding up the Michigan expectations but I think that Nuss was a flavor of the week kind of hire.   I believe that Saban was going to bring in Kiffin no matter what and Nuss was on the outside looking in.  All while Brandon was lurking in the background to fill Borges' job with an OC who had worked with such a strong program like Bama.

After reading the article I think the offensive woes at UofM will be fixed under Drevno.  I know that having the big name recruits at specialty positions are fun and exciting but we need to remember that the game is won at the line of scrimmage.  That will never change in football.  The closer a guy plays to the ball the more importance and impact he has on the game.   With Drevno being an O-Line coach and experienced in that department, I am very excited to see what our line will do this year and the progress they make on the overall makeup of our offense.

100% Focus and Determination

I love how the focus of Coach Harbaugh is completely dialed in.  He is already jacked up and ready for pads to be crackin and heads to be breakin.   I too believe that we will see a few of the under determined players leave once spring football comes to a close.

This is the first time that I can recall seeing a coach who is determined at all costs to make sure the product on the field on Saturday is the best it can be.  Under Hoke (whom I didn't dislike but thought the stage was a little too big) teams were lackadaisical.

The reason I use the word lackadaisical is because I do not agree with the "country club" attitude.  I really do believe that the majority of the players on the roster were hungry and just waiting to go out and perform at an elite level.  I do not remember what movie this quote is from but I believe it speaks volumes.  "There are no bad teams; just bad leaders".

With Harbaugh at the reins I feel that it is much more easy to pin point where the blame goes for faltering when things may not result in the desired outcome.  With Hoke it always seemed to be an easy answer of "we are competing everyday trying to get better" (translation: I do not know what I need to do to make sure my leadership helps develop a better product).  True leaders are much more identifiable and are much more valuable in trying times than they are when things are going accordingly (another knock to the previous HC).

I interpret Jim's use of twitter as a tool for both the current team as well as future players to make sure that they know exactly what is about to take place.  For some that may be too scary and they will bow out or simply go unheard of.  For the ones who view this as a challenge they are the ones who will succeed and rise above.

IN JIM WE TRUST

Urban..........I'm coming to get you

WOW

I love it.  Jimmy is ready to rock n roll.  Urban I hope your health is up to par because I can't wait to see Harbaugh force you to walk away from the game (for health issues of course).

Mr. Weber.....

I wish you well and I truly feel sorry for you if the OSU staff was able to pull one over on you.  But as I look at the situation I question the competitive fire inside you.  Are you not willing to compete against someone in your same class?  And is it enough for you to commit elsewhere?  Just not sure about the drive you have to succeed.

AMAIZING

This story honestly gave me goosebumps.  I am glad this young man decided to not let a missed flight deter him from coming to visit what he will soon call home.

I wish him the best with football but even more in the classroom.  This is a lifetime opportunity for anyone to go to such a prestigous institution. Football or no football the UofM degree is simply the best.

Manning is officially

on the Washington State coaching staff as their OLB coach.   I would have loved to of had him stay but he is in fact hired elsewhere.

Totally forgot about Zordich

just waiting for his official announcement.   He doesn't show up on the YSU football website so seems like its just a matter of time now.

STAFF IS SET ?

Does this mean that the coaching staff is set?  Just seems like we are a little thin on the defensive side of the ball.  Just my opinion though.

One word...... BOOM!
I am trying to remember....

when was the last time anyone can remember Michigan having a great season of special teams play?  I remember Breaston being outstanding on the return game but besides that I can not think of a season when the special teams really stood out.

And I am elated to have Baxter in charge of the ST.  GO BLUE!

The two boys have a similar

The two boys have a similar expectation to meet.  Perfect move sending young Harbaugh.

Tyrone Wheatley sighting....

Picture of Mr. Wheatley hanging out and checking into Cass Tech....when are they going to officially announce him as RB coach?

Looks as if

Wisconsin's Chryst hired a TE coach who was also a former Offensive QC coach.  Very similar move to what we are looking at only difference is young Harbaugh was at the pro level and UW's new hire was at the college level.
