My biggest problem with the defense is that they have so much potential, yet so much youth. I know they are better than they are showing they are. If we can win just a couple more, they will really bring in their confidence and they will be able to see that they can play with anybody.
You can’t tell me that practicing against our offense will not make them that much stronger. They have it. They just need to do it.
They really made great strides in the Indiana game. They were more punishing than I have seen them since the first game.
Growing up I (I hope this does not too bad) used to work at the Burger King at Liberty and Maynard, it was down below, I think they replaced it with a Kinko’s or something??? Well Bo used to come in and get a double whopper for lunch a few times a week. I am Ann Arbor true and true. Pittsfield, Slauson, Community. Shaky and I were on a first name basis, when I lived downtown it was nothing but me and a couple friends who lived over by kerry town and a bunch of college students. My 1.66 GPA over 5 years did not qualify me for admission into Michigan, but I still root for the Maize and Blue. Even when I live 2200 miles away.
What I saw yesterday, was a greater level of maturity and desire to win. They came out smoking hot on both sides of the ball, and then started to get a little a head of themselves. At this point they looked like they were trying to cut the corner on the par 4 to get a close as possible to the green; this led to the scores by Uconn. Unfortunately that is when you usually run into trouble. Then I watched them pull it back together and take control of the game, those drives that Denard created where they used up 15 minutes of game clock were brilliant. This showed a true maturity to play against your opponent and not yourself.
My biggest question is could they turn the offensive scoring machine back on?
I hope Tate does well, he is a good QB. I watched him with his towel over his head all by himself on the bench. My first thought was.....Tom Brady should give him a call.....that might help to put this in perspective. I am fully confident that RR will play him if he is the best man for the job.
I am nervous about this year too. But....
every day that I listen to the media and hear the players and coaches, I feel that this was one of the best changes to the program that could have been made.
If the players buy in they can do anything
They can beat anybody on any day
They can also lose to anybody on any day
That is what scares me
In a couple years I don’t think losing is going to be as much of an option
I don’t think his recruiting missed a beat, it shifted direction a little
We might not have gotten a 5 star QB who can throw the ball farther than I can drive a golf ball but the players are still showing up and more athletic as well. Pat White was a 2 star and I think Slaton was a 3 or 4 star; he has done more with less than most of the teams out there. Offering all the 3 stars so early might also be “he can win with them” talent alone might not be what wins the games.
Not as polished as Llyod, I don’t care “win the big ones” bring championships back to Ann Arbor, that is what I want. Move the road to the NC north about 200 miles.
I wish I knew, I feel your left coast pain, I get the same thing in PDX especially after the punishment from Oregon last year. We’ve got to win (period). And the Suckeyes are probably going to get run over next month, which will do nothing for the BIG 10.
Has anyone noticed the movement in the Vegas odds lately? We have been improving; maybe it’s all the open media press coverage with a dose of Barwis? 54 is crazy that puts us in 8th place in the BIG 10.
