Xavier Worthy ballz trending no bueno

3 ballz came in yesterday to Oregon for 4* CA WR Xavier Worthy. All the picks have a 7 confidence. They are from Brandon Huffman, Steve Wiltfong and a guy named Greg Biggins. Sam has said that this is a UM-Oregon battle and that Xavier's uncle is a big UM fan.I guess the good new is Sam hasn't put a pick in yet but this isn't a good trend.

Seth- I know you don't work for 247, but you do know people in the know, can you enlighten us what often happens in these situations?  Clearly some information got out from somewhere to push people to put in a ball for a school, but how would all 3 people find out the same time? Is it often one phone call to the kid or the kid's family, to someone in the know at the school? Is the info received by one 247 person, spread between the 3 and they trust each other enough to put in a ball? Not necessarily in this situation specifically, but what happens in general when there is a run on balls, without any public information getting out?

I would have to imagine some bad info gets put out there one way or the other to try influence the situation. Maybe Oregon is hoping a selective leak will dissuade UM from putting their limited resources/effort towards the kid. Or of course, the kid silently committed to Oregon.

Not even UM can beat the limitation of time.  Harbaugh can't be on the phone with every recruit they offer every single day.  At some point priorities have to get made, and I am sure perceived interest on the part of the recruit is part of it. I have no idea if recruiting balls gets taken into account or not at UM, but I bet it  does impact some schools.

There will be an incredible number of decommits for everyone in college football this year. Kids haven’t been able to visit anywhere or show out in spring/summer camps.

You keep recruiting everyone. Get Worthy on campus and you have a real shot regardless of what he says at first.

I am not in the know, but there is a lot of following the leader with crystal balls. There's often runs on balls for this reason. Especially after the top guys in the 247 food chain put one in. Not sure about 247's internal politics, but a lot of these analysts are gaming the system trying to get the most crystal balls correct the earliest. Maybe its simply a bragging rights thing, or maybe that's how the local reporter in Cincinnati gets noticed and becomes Director of Midwest Scouting.

Also no program is allocating resources/time based on crystal balls. They all have direct conversations with the kids and either the kid keeps responding to your texts and calls or he tells you to respect his decision and stop bugging him.

Honestly don't blame him for going to Oregon. He gets that Nike money, they have a lot of talent coming in, and the PAC12 is pretty terrible right now besides Oregon

He will be announcing his commitment on June 27 per his Twitter. I expect him to commit to Oregon based on these crystal balls and the Rivals FutureCasts (in particular EJ Holland who switched his prediction from Michigan to Oregon). However as Seth mentioned, we will continue to recruit him and try to get him to visit.
