WTKA's Big Show today

Anyone catch this? I think the hosts were actually worse than the callers, by far, for once. Here are some of the more ridiculous statements: 1. "I don't really want to get into the recruiting" -- the host said this when a caller referred to why Michigan was struggling over the past few years on defense, probably b/c he knows nothing about it. 2. "Michigan was a great team in 2007" -- the host said this when the caller said our defense was bad. Oh yeah, I forgot. The Florida game was the only thing that counted. The Horror, Oregon, those never happened. 3. "Michigan didn't have a problem getting players who loved to play football before," the host said when a caller mentioned that RR seems to recruit players who really loved to play. Right, so those O-line jackasses who quit the team and football (other than jackass Boren) when RR came in, those guys loved to play, you could tell. 4. "Michigan should just recruit linebackers to play linebacker instead of safeties and trying to turn them into linebackers." This was the height of ignorance in that many high school players don't play in college what they played in high school. Probably because of that thing called puberty that makes them grow a lot. Probably. I like Copey. This wasn't his day. The other host was just a pure donkey. Bad day for him. Phil from Detroit, some of the other callers, we can expect this, but these were just a few of the many crazy things these guys said. Complete misinformation and idiocy. What do you guys think?

Ira is a little goofy, but I like what he brings to the show. He really knows his stuff. “Phil from Detroit” needs to make shorter calls. Sometimes he has good points, but it might be better if he emailed them in so they could be summarized in less than 30 seconds.

I propose that J Raddy and Brian Cook fight in a steelcage match for the right to interview Ryan Mallet about what he was going to do back when LC retired. The whole Ryan Mallet and Michigan Man discussions caused my brain to melt. It is unbelievable how stupid J Raddy is. Like Drew Sharp mixed with Michael Rosenberg and a little Adam Rittenberg sprinkled in for good measure. I think he is actually dumber than caller Bob who is always referring to John L. Smith or Greg "I'm sick and tired" from Saginaw.

defend the program against "cupboard wasn't bare" argument. I explained the Ryan Mallet situation and how it affected the 2008 team and got hung up on told my thoughts on mallet and Mitch Mustain were speculation. I like Copey, but his sidekick Tuesday was a jerk. He dissed Brian and said any other program could easily absorb losing the stratin QB, RB both WR and best tackle and keep going. Obviously he doesn't have his facts straight.

Haha, I heard your call. The best was when one of the hosts ripped on Brian because the other host told him that Brian had good information leading him to believe that Mallet was gone regardless of who the new head coach was. I don't think he understood who Brian is, or how much respect the general U of M fanbase has for his epinions and perspective.

What would happen if a lot of mgoblog people started calling in? It might be interesting if a bunch of people called in, gave the screeners the idea that they were calling to slam UM, but then let the hosts have it. The negative to this, though, is that it would boost their number of calls, and might make their bosses think they are doing their jobs.

#3- He was right. The inference was that no one tried when Lloyd was coach, but they give it their all under Rich. Which, results aside, is ridiculous. As are your examples. Because people didn't want to play a 5th year for coaches who they didn't sign up for, they don't love football? I guess if anyone else transfers for any reason, (or those that already have) that Rich recruited, he did a bad job because he got guys who "don't love football"? Equally silly. The caller was trying to equate the fact that smaller players try harder than big one. He was. Really. Jake Long on line #1! #4 Brian himself has said a number of times he'd like more guys recruited to play the position they play, and isn't real high on guys who have to switch positions. Now, that's not universal, but DeFran was only saying things similar to what Brian has said. If you don't like the show...stop listening. Beyond saving you brain cells from going nuts over it, his ratings will decrease, and he'll go off the air. Why can we ban the Freep, but can't help ourselves listening to the radio?

My point is that these guys don't bother with facts. They just say anything in an attempt to get ratings. This is more dangerous than people think b/c there is a media firestorm surrounding the AD, and we don't need outside people making things harder on RR than necessary. I think the MGOBLOGGERs should be listening and should call in to make sure there is some balance. And by balance, I don't mean supporting RR. I just mean using facts as opposed to nonsense.

Yesterday DeFran was trying to say that UM getting outscored 99-19 in the second half of the last 4-5 games (whatever it is) is the fault of the offense. My brain literally exploded after hearing that.
