Workplace etiquette about Michigan - Ohio State game

Submitted by alabluema on
This is a relatively meaningless post -- but I have a workplace quandary. My coworker is an Ohio State fan, grew up in Columbus, hates Michigan etc. So he obviously understands that losses to your arch-rival are extremely painful. Well, this guy, who is otherwise nice, keeps bashing on Rich Rodriguez to me, as if I have no stake in the matter. He's also very smug every year when Michigan loses -- predicts a blowout before the game etc. Of course I don't have much ammo to come back with other than that I think things will turn around. Well, I was thinking the other day that I would never bash Jim Tressel to my co-worker like he does to me, just because I don't think it's cool. Maybe he's not as into the whole thing as I am so he doesn't understand the fact that he's being insulting. But I wonder, is it acceptable to rub it in to coworkers about the Michigan Ohio State game? I don't think it is. Maybe it's not ok face to face with Sparty either.

I went to the TTU/Baylor basketball game this week, and I brought a couple friends from U of M to the game, who both had M shirts on. No lie, some Tech student yelled out, "Michigan, pshh... O-H-I-O bitch!" to my friends, who happen to both be girls. A) I don't mind the O-H-I-O thing, but calling my friends bitches was a tad over the line. B) I mean, this is in fucking Lubbock, TX, which is 200,000 people in the middle of nowhere. I can't escape them anywhere I go! Anyway, next time, roundhouse kick him in the nuts. I regret not doing that myself.

Step 1: Procure illegal narcotics and/or gross German pornography Step 2: Place in OSU fan's desk Step 3: Notify boss and/or local authorities Step 4: Cackle knowingly for an extended period of time Step 5: Recommend cool M fan to replace fired/disgraced former co-worker/pervert
