Wolverines in the Combine
Here is an article from the NFL combine talking about the Wolverine's top performers, mainly Taylor and Trent. I was always a little skeptical about Barwis' effect on the guys but seeing that Taylor was 2nd best in the bench at 37 reps of 225 and Trent put it up 23 times, I am turning into a believer. The article also said that Trent was one of the best cornerbacks in quite a few of the drills so I guess it shows how the combine can be flawed in rating the players....

Maybe Shafer's coaching had that large of an effect on Trent's play this past year.

All I know is that Tim Jamison ran a 5-5.1 second 40 which is killer, in a bad way.

40 yard dash:
Jamison - 5.09
Taylor - 5.24
Trent - 4.43 (3rd fastest time by CB - tied with a bunch of guys)
Bench reps:
Taylor - 37 (2nd most of anyone)
Trent - 23 (Vontae Davis of Illinois put up 25)
Vertical:
Trent - 38.0 (5th highest of CBs)
Broad Jump:
Trent - 10'7" (5th longest of CBs)
20 yard shuttle:
Trent - 4.01 (3rd fastest of CBs and 3rd fastet time overall)
60 yard shuttle:
Trent - 11.07 (fastest CB and 3rd fastest overall)

Man.. Trents good at everything, sucks in games though.
Does anyone know why Trent played as much as he did the past few years? Everytime opposing teams had big plays, it was because of him.

Everytime?
Can you give an example? I'm not sure you (or I for that matter) can qualify any big play as "Trent's fault". Leave that for people that know what they're talking about.

The only game where I thought Trent really played awful was the 07' Rose Bowl. He was trying to guard Dwayne Jarrett though.

So when he was a sophomore playing against one of the top WR's in the country? If there's a time where getting burned is forgivable, this might be it.
February 26th, 2009 at 2:55 PM ^
That's what I was getting at. He had no chance against Jarrett.

Yep. Dexter Jackson's TD was Trent's fault, not Sears's.
Chris Wells's long TD runs were Trent's fault, not Sears's.
Jaison Williams's long TD catch was Trent's fault, not Brandon Harrison's.
Brian Hartline's TD catch was Trent's fault, not Steve Brown's.
Need I go on?
Morgan Trent was at fault for EVERY BAD PLAY FROM '06 TO '08!

RRerabeginsin2009 is a gimmick I like.
