Will this bring McNeal back?

Submitted by jokenjin on

So now that we beat Minnesota pretty soundly (and with Sheridan at quarterback, no less), does this have any bearing with McNeal liking us at all again?

I, myself, would hope this changes his mind but there is mounting evidence against me:

- He said he had a pretty good time at Oklahoma and that program is always in the national title hunt.

- There was that whole facebook thing where he said that he's not going here.

- We have two great WR recruits coming in for the class of 2010, so maybe he's resigning to the fact that there'll be more competition for a spot

- Minnesota can be seen as a program on the rise, which they are, and he might want to help them gain some prominence, plus he's almost guaranteed to see significant playing time if he goes to Minnesota, since we have Stonum, Odoms, Robinson, Mathews, Clemons and Hemingway all coming back.

Any thoughts?

this has nothing to do with his decision. He doesn't like our style of offense. His top 4 right now, which could change again, is Penn State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Minnesota. He's not contacting us, and we're doing the same. I really don't think he'll end up at Minnesota either, I think he wants to go somewhere away from home.

Tom-- you have to explain this one to me. I just don't understand what he doesn't like about our styel of offense. It's not like the WR's don't get the ball. We currently have 2 (3?) QB's who are below-average DI QB's yet we still throw enough and to basically all of our WR's, not just our slot guy and when our RB's get outside. I mean, look at at Mathews, or Stonum, or Savoy. They are getting the ball and i'd bet that they'd get the ball more if we had QB's who could throw better and be more consistent. I just don't understand his perspective.

at PSU was/is my gut feeling.  Maybe it's changed a little with PSU's loss to Iowa, and JoePa looking like he's 2 months from Shady Acres Nursing Home.  Who knows.  I still see those two going to the same school though.

sounds like it's from some desparate guy whose girl just left him.  It would be funny if BM had a post on his myspace saying 'it wasn't you jokenjin, it was me...'  The fact is, Bryce has peaced out.  He's gone. End of story.

But chin up player; recruiting is a numbers game, just like dating.  And Michigan can pull with the best of them.  RR's already out there grabbing other stud WRs (Miller/Jackson).  P-I-M-P.

If you are a wide receiver with any pro aspirations you would be wise to go to a school that you will prepare you for that level. I think that this will be one of the biggest drawbacks of playing the offensive system that we do. The days of Michigan turning out premier wideouts for the pros are probably over, and I am a little surprised that Miller would want to come here if he sees himself playing on Sunday.

How do you figure that this system won't turn out premier wideouts.  This system is meant to show off athleticism of the players.  Look at TTU playing the spread under Leach tell him that Crabtree isn't premier because of their playbook and that he shouldn't have pro aspirations.  Michigan will still turn out great receivers as they always have.

My Dog!!  That is some offense (actually both were).  If Graham Harrell isn't the most calm QB, under pressure, I don't know who is.  He never got rattled even when in the grasp of a DL.  Pretty awesome.  And, TTU's back-up QB is no slouch.

On top of that, ND lost to BC.  Ha!

Is our style of play really that different from Penn State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Minnesota?  Aren't they all spread teams?  Their run/pass ratio might be slightly different (due in part to having better QB play), but we're not talking about drastically different offensive philosophies here.

I read on ESPNU's recruiting page that Bryce's mother has not ruled out Michigan. It sounds like she's very involved in the process. At this point, I don't know if it matters or not. But, I would kind of like him to come here or stay out of the Big (11) Ten.
