Why can't M have a spring "game?"
Yesterday, regarding Saturday's upcoming scrimmage, RR was quoted as saying "unfortunately, we don't have enough guys to have a true spring game, with a maize team and a blue team."
I've heard this before from other coaches, including Lloyd, and my question is, why not? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we have approximately 95 guys in camp, between scholarship players and walk-ons? Isn't that number more than enough to have two "teams" of 45 or so? With Lloyd, I knew it was because he didn't really want to have such a game, but RR seems very much to want that. And other programs have this game. So what am I missing?
Probably depth at certain positions. We have barely enough DT's to field two teams and if we did they would be on the field the whole time prone to injury. RR said experienced guys would not play as much like Graham and Minor. If they are too thin at certain positions they cannot pull guys out of the game after their ideal reps. Just my guess.
I don't mind seeing the 1st Offense vs. the 1st Defense and them scoring that like they did two years ago.
but game injury would not be. I'm just happy to see some college football action.
I'm not sure who would play QB for the other team.
we can grab one of the alums from the Flag game to fill in. Taylor was fairly swift no?!?
Taylor Swift at quarterback? Eh.. She'd be better than Sheridan I guess.
coner
are not there yet... so we probably have, at most, 70 s'ship players. i'd rather not risk losing a QB, LB, DB, or DL.
