Going to the UConn game. Where to eat after the game? Will be picking someone up at the hill dorms after the game.

E - what kind of food are you looking for?   There are a lot of good choices.

We prefer dining on / near Main Street - though there are a few near campus spots we like too.

One Mexican restaurant we like is Chapala on Main Street.  From the Hill, it should be a five minute drive - traffic permitting.  The food is good and reasonably priced.

Black Pearl and Palio are also good choices.

One suggestion - see if you can make a reservation in advance.  It will avoid an hour long (or more) wait on a game day evening…

I guess I should have expanded on my original question. How busy are restaurants after the game? I know Main Street has lots of good options but is very close to the stadium. I was going to get recommendations on this site then check on reservations. Thanks for all the responses so far except for Arbys, never Arbys. I mentioned the hilldorms as we are going to be on that side of Campus.

E - restaurants and bars tend to be pretty full / packed after the game.

As others have pointed - what exactly do you want?

I think there are three general areas for food drink in Ann Arbor:

1) South U - which is really for students and the food (by and large) is nothing special - essentially bar food or pizza.  I think Pizza House is a decent choice - the Cantina will probably packed.

2) State and Liberty - better food choices - but further from the Hill.  Taste Kitchen is very good food, but - it’s also expensive.  And

3) Main Street - furthest from the Hill - better variety of restaurants.

I do not understand Pizza House at all. I guess the food is basically ok, sort of at the Applebee's, Chili's, Olive Garden level, and has a really big menu that will have something for everyone regardless of their food preferences. But for pretty meh food, the prices are ridiculous. I seriously can't understand why the ones in A2 and EL are almost always packed.

Not sure if this is a date, night with the boys, spending time with your kids, etc but you can't go wrong with Knight's. If you are looking for something close the downtown location has you covered but I also like the old school feel at the original Knights on Dexter Ave

That's kinda of tough question to answer OP because none of us know:

1. Your food preferences

2. Your budget

3. Your desire to have a drink or not with your meal

4. Your willingness to wait for a table

5. Your willingness to drive a bit for the meal

I could go on but man, that's like asking "what's the best color" or "which song should I play on the radio"

But if I have to answer I'd go with Casey's Tavern.  Fantastic onion rings, nice menu, great beer selection and fun atmosphere

My preferred post-game hangout for a bite to eat and an adult beverage is Ashley's.  Good pub grub and their beer selection is extensive.  Get there quickly after the game though, or expect a long wait for a table.

Sabor Latino for Mexican

Parthenon or Thano's Lamplighter Restaurant for Greek

Famiglia Pizza on State & William for a slice

Zanzibar for something different

Einstein's Bagels on State for a bagel sandwich

Taco Bell on East U or McDonald's on South U if on a budget

The aforementioned "where to eat in Ann Arbor" post is from over 10 years ago, and even then it was a little out of date - Don't bother. You'll get a lot of advice in this thread with "the classics" (Zingerman's, Dominick's, Blimpy Burger) and all are good but usually very busy on a gameday.

A couple outside-the-standards and sneaky-good options are Kang's on South U for Korean (Bulgogi and Bipimbap rock - Get the bipimbap in the hot stone bowl).

The other one is Joe's Pizza (corner of South U and East U) is an exceptional and relatively newer-ish addition to the AA restaurant scene...  It's a walk-up pizza joint opened by Joe whose son went to UM - Joe owned a legendary NYC pizza place and decided he needed to open one in AA after his son went to UM. The only reason I even know about it is that my son graduated from UM in the spring, and for the first two years he lived in AA he kept raving about it and insisting that I go there and try it - I was hesitant because whenever I come to AA I have my own standards that I like to go to.  Eventually we went and I was astounded at how good it was. It will be busy with a line but it moves quickly - seating is limited and first-come-first-served, and there is no waitstaff, but give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Both are walkable from the Hill dorms as parking is limited nearby on gamedays.

easyE: See if you can eat in the dorm.

I'm serious. I've heard from younger people I trust that the food there is better than what's available at many Ann Arbor restaurants. (I have difficulty relating to this when recalling my own experience many years ago.)
