When is a Michigan Sports "Update" not a...
MICHIGAN update?
When Mark Snyder over at the freep decides to add yet more "content" to the fishwrapping.
Sadly, we still get a few days per week of home delivery, and the lousy "GO STATE" editor/writer combo continues to provide regular updates on Justin Boren and today, Ryan Mallett. How THAT is considered "Michigan material" is beyond me.

I need one of those old "this is your brain on drugs" ads to insert here, a la "This is a blog, and this is the lolmsm. Any questions?"
That is all. Rant over!
Between this article and the perpetual "Roundtree is blind" story (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009907170441), the Free Press is really digging for material.
Aren't we all?? Its July. These are the types of stories one can expect in the tail end of the offseason.
Ya but they are newspaper sports writers, they aren't constricted to UM football.
I understand what you are saying. This was found under the U-M Wolverines section of the website. If they are going to have that section they need to update it. Honestly, if you dont like it dont read I guess. They are just trying to tread water until the season begins.
OTOH, the 'Spartan' beat writer posted (today?) that Boisture was highly regarded at the QB camp this week.
To my mind, this is where fan blogs will kill lolmsm sports pages. Fans go to high quality content, especially for your personal favorite team. (Recall the Rosenberg interview where he complained about the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals, hating the Game 5 OT loss...not as a fan, but just having to travel and 'work.')
I'll read, and WANT to read, articles/facts/data about MY team, not transfers, not dropouts, not buckeyes or spartans.
Brian et al run rings around your average "professional journalist" in effort, sweat, initiative, smarts, and everything else connected with producing compelling content.
Well yesterday the front page of the GR Press's sports page informed me that Dann O'Neill was transferring to Western.
The coverage of Michigan sports by the major newspapers over the past couple of years is proof positive that the newspaper is a dying form. It's sad in a way, but also cool -- we now have, for example, Mgoblog, among other things, to keep us up to date about what's happening with Michigan athletics.
