What happened to the Reggie Bush scandal?

Submitted by samsoccer7 on
I was talking to a few friends a couple weeks ago and we couldn't remember what happened with the whole Reggie Bush scandal. There was a period of several months where I read several articles about all the allegations thrown around and remember thinking how USC was gonna be hosed when it all came to fruition. Fast forward a couple years and it's hard to even find an article written within the last YEAR about this topic. I found something from the bleacher report but it's really just a summary and commentary on how biased the NCAA is. It even makes reference to the Fab Five, which is nice in a weird way. Anybody else keep on top of this lately? And how can this happen, really? It's a shame and it pisses me off.

drag the story out and dust it off the next time Reggie Bush gets injured, or they will prop this tired story up like a dead corpse on display on the show Outside The Lines if espn gets word of any of the parties gets in to trouble with the law.

it will keep bringing in huge amounts of money into the NCAA coffers, and that corrupt organization won't do anything to jeopardize that. If Pete Carroll left for the NFL and USC went into decline you can bet the NCAA would all of a sudden produce all kinds of evidence that Southern Cal has been as dirty as they come, and they'd lower the boom.

Yup. You can't tell me that FSU wasn't every bit as dirty 10 years ago, but they were right at the top of the college football world back then. NCAA ain't going to kill the golden goose while it's still crapping gold into its pockets.

The NCAA didn't touch UM basketball while they were making money off of them. But when they had a bad year, the investigation suddenly came to the forefront. I still think OSUcks should have to forfeit their NC because of Clarett, and USC should have to forfeit the one they won with Bush, but it won't happen. Both investigations were "tabled" and I believe the Statute of Limitations has passed for both teams.

Are you still trying to blame the scandal on anyone except Michigan? The NCAA didn't touch Michigan while they were "making money off of them" for the same reason they haven't touched OSU or USC, lack of subpoena power. The bad year happened to approximately coincide with Ed Martin getting federally indicted for money laundering, and the feds used their subpoena power to determine that Ed Martin was giving money to Michigan basketball players. So nothing will happen to OSU or USC unless someone is prosecuted for something that includes testimony about the infractions, just like nothing would have happened to Michigan if the feds hadn't caught Martin. Who are you going to blame next?
