What gives with the inscriptions on the eye black patches?
AFTER I watched 'til the bitter end, I noticed tOSU players sporting the eye black patches with what appears to be Biblical verses written on them. I've seen them randomly on NFL players as well.
TP had Phil 4:13 inscribed on his, and I think I saw the same one on Tebow. Laurenitis had John 17:1. Anyone know what gives with these? I haven't noticed them on Michigan players.

Reggie Bush started it at USC. ESPN did a piece on it like yesterday.

Are you frickin kidding me? Just yesterday? ESPN is on like 24/7 in my house.
I am an idiot. Sorry I asked the question

It doesn't seem that hard to figure out. The players are making a statement of their faith. The inscribed verses presumably are of particular importance to them.

there are no christians at ohio state. ohio state is a collection of everything that is evil

Ya, but some of them write other shit on them. Reggie Bush wrote his area code on them. I hope the NCAA bans customized eye black, just because it is an unnecessary distraction.

Should they make players cover up their tattoos as well? This is the first I'm hearing of it being an "unnecessary distraction". Let the players do what they want.

When opposing players see "John 3:16" they will suddenly be moved to prayer in the middle of the field instead of sticking to their assignments.

Pryor's 4:13 is referring to his favorite section in the new bible OSU fans are writing just for him.

OK. I didn't want to SAY I thought Pryor could be a heathen. . . but yeah.
After all, he chose Ohio. That qualifies as heathen.

Thanks jmblue. I figured as much.
I can understand certain players doing this, those like Tebow, who publicly profess a strong Christian faith.
However, I was wondering if this was becoming some sort of fad. Wish I had caught the ESPN story.
Some of the players "making a statement" seem to have pretty unChristian-like behavior outside of the team, hence my 'fad' question.

Hey - when Beanie had his SECOND big run (the one that started on about the 8 and ended at midfield at the start the 3rd quarter) Morgan Trent forced him out. As Trent was leaving the sidelines some big fat OSU player (not in uniform, wearing a letter jacket) was taunting him. I SWEAR THAT WAS BOREN. Anyone else see this?

I've got the game on Tivo. Anyone else? Would be interesting to look through and see if it is Boren.
If someone knew how to copy/edit and post it here, that would be AWESOME!
