We are #2 and the bucknuts are #1, but wait till the Jim Harbaugh era starts in earnest no doubt we will pass the bucknuts. 'lil brother is #28 behind such powers as Iowa, Okie State, and Va. Tech. FSU & SC seem really low.

Indiana, Purdue and Illinois all fall below $200 million or so in terms of intrinsic value. I say we get the financing going and buy another Big Ten program - starting small, of course. It will be a bit leveraged and there might need to be some cuts to service the debt, but then I am sure we could find someone to coach Illinois for a fraction of Beckman's salary to achieve financial equilibrium.

Kickstarter: Buy Illinois.
We could use them as our practice teams, since there's no Junior Varsity anymore.

Imagine where we'll be when we even remotely get our shit together.
We used to be at the top of these lists, so it's not a big stretch.

How are our revenues almost $10M more than OSU? They have similar sized stadiums in football and basketball. I'm sure we draw more in Hockey, but not $10M more. They even have in-stadium advertising where we don't.
I can account for expense differences, but I would expect revenue to be very similar or even them ahead a little because of advertising.
Is it our friends at Addidas?

The Adidas contract is worth about 5 or 6 million more a year than their Nike contract.
(Not a fan of Adidas, just pointing out how much larger the contract with them is, compared to what Ohio State gets from Nike)

The figures are just for football, not the entire athletic department. The estimate of value is supposed to be what the teams would be worth if they were valued like a pro team.

of revenue. I believe two years ago, OSU had a total Athletic Department revenue of ~142 mil while UM was at $128, yet we still were listed as having higher "football" revenue. Last year, I believe we barely clipped OSU in total revenue, something like $144 mil to $140 mil.
I believe non-box ticket revenue at Michigan stadium is something like $40 million for non-student tickets and ~$5 million for student tickets.
Obviously, there's more income than just tickets. (Donations, licensing, etc.)

NEVER underestimate the power of the Block M. I would have put us around 10th place due to the disaster of the last 6 or 7 years. But to see us at #2, a close #2 I might add, just goes to show that we have something special here that we all can be proud of.
This makes we want to jump up and give DB some more money.
Go Blue!

Is there a point to placing a market value on a college football team that will never be sold under any circumstances?

Some of the relatve values seem odd. For example, I am surprised Wisconsin is below Nebraska and Iowa, especially with more revenue than Nebraska. But I wonder what the margin of error of his estimates is. Some of the differences may not be statistically significant.
