WBB dominates Wisconsin, Thome has 37 point/14 board game
WBB rang in the new year with a dominating win at the Kohl Center earlier today.
Most of the team struggled with the best player on the team, Katelynn Flaherty, having only 8 points and going 0-7 from 3 point range. Flaherty is the all-time leader in 3 pointers and is averaging 18.5 PPG this season.
It was sophomore big Hallie Thome and freshman phenom Kysre Gondrezick that willed the Wolverines to victory, accounting for 53(!!!!) of the team's 73 points.
Hallie Thome had the second-highest scoring game in Michigan history.
37 points. 14 rebounds. 13-15 FGs.
Kysre had 16 points.
Gondrezick and Thome are the highest ranked recruits Michigan has ever signed, and both are underclassmen.
Michigan is now 13-3 and 2-0 in the B1G. They'll travel and face #14 OSU (12-4, 2-0 B1G) on Saturday in the only regular season game both teams will play against each other.
Should be a high-scoring game and all-out mayhem. Both teams play high tempo styles.

Thanks WD. I was following WBB on the Gamecast while watching the MBB on TV. We really distanced ourselves from them in the second half. Go Blue!!

KBA's style of basketball is a hell of a lot more fun to watch than Beilein's.
It's organized chaos. Whereas with the 2016-17 version of the Beilein style, it's dribble the ball outside the arc for 15 seconds and then run around and stuff.

but sadder for the men's.

KBA should coach both the men's and the women's teams.

As far as Gondrezick and Thome being the highest ranked players, that may be true with ESPN but generally Flaherty was ranked higher. Interestingly, incoming recruit next year, Hailey Brown, is ranked higher than any of them by ESPN.

WBB rankings, particularly outside the top 10 or 15 players in each class, are notoriously unreliable. On a consensus basis across multiple recruiting services, Flaherty and Gondrezick were probably similarly ranked, with Flaherty perhaps a bit higher. Thome certainly was not ranked higher than Flaherty.
