Volunteers, Wildcats, Social Distancing, COVID, and You
This graph is one of the best explanations I've seen online as for how and why social distancing works. Tennessee and Kentucky are similar and similarly sized states. Kentucky (blue bars) implemented social distancing measures a few days before Tennessee. Even as the # of tests increased similarly in both states (translucent bars) Kentucky saw fewer positive tests.
Be safe, wash your hands, socially distance, and stay healthy.

Odd to see someone trying to use data to support their argument. /s
Instead of listening to all the dummies on this board spread baseless and uneducated opinions, why don't you listen to the people from the university you purport to love.

Have extra masks? Donate to our warriors at the U of M hospital. I donated on Saturday. It’s easy. You just drive through and drop off.
Good to see some data reflecting what kind of leadership actually gets people killed.
More data: Yesterday, Italy’s new cases grew by 10.3%, their smallest daily increase to date. Today they grew by 8.0%. It looks like social distancing is beginning to have a tangible impact and their curve is finally flattening.
Yeah, it takes approximately 7-14 days for effects of what we do today to actually show up in the data. Hopefully we've done enough early enough.
2 days in a row where their absolute number of new cases has decreased.
It could bubble back up, and we still need to see a longer-term trend. But it is promising.
And as you said, the % increase (new cases/previous day's total cases) has been a new low each of the last 2 days. There is a downward trend there as well.
2-March through 23-March: 20.2%, 22.9%, 23.5%, 24.9%, 20.2%, 26.9%, 25.4%, 24.4%, 10.7%*, 22.8%, 21.3%, 16.9%, 19.8%, 17.0%, 13.9%, 12.0%, 13.2%, 14.9%, 14.6%, 13.9%, 10.4%, 8.1%
* - 10.7% isn't a "real" number, many positive results were delayed to the next day for technical reasons.
Remarkable that a state governor would see the significant measures his neighboring state is taking and then be like, “Eh, no need to close anything down.” As though the virus is going to just stop at the state line?
Interesting at the least. Not exactly a “study”, but one more data point. It may help support the position that a lockdown is overkill.

Oh, I the social distance in the main factor that could help us to get over this covid pandemic. I am so tired of sitting at home, but we should endure. I want to say that volunteers from Volunteer Centre County and from other centres do really great work in this period. They help old people in different aspects and it is great that people are ready to help for free.
