Very OT - Seeking advice in music streaming services
Seeing as we are well into the offseason, I thought this would be a good time to seek some mgoadvice on music streaming. I have had Rhapsody for years, but in the last 18 months or so after merging with Napster, it seems that the service has really gone down, and the fees are actually up. Any insight as to whats the best out there today?
Sorry to clog the board, but it seems the help here is better conversation than google, or ask jeeves.......Thanks, and Go Blue!

Their catalog is extensive and they have nice integration with Sonos which is important for me.

AccuRadio
TuneIn Radio
Free and therefore sporadic and annoying commercial interruptions but ... free. And quite good for background music.
I also recommend Amazon Prime.

I've had Spotify and Apple Music. They're both really good. It's super easy to search everyone's public playlists on Spotify, and they also have some good playlist categories that get regularly updated by their staff. Apple Music has something similar with their Editor's Picks; they also have the Radio feature, which is like genre Pandora. And they're having more and more exclusive album releases. That said, there are versions of a very few # of songs I prefer that are only on Spotify and others that are only on Apple Music. All and all, I think Apple Music is the better service and app right now.

spotify is awesome especially if you use it at work on your desktop computer vs a phone. the free version lets you listen to and look up anything on a desktop.

I like my Sirius account. Of course it's great in the car, but I can sit at my desk and listen to Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen. It works like a DVR that I can pause and fast forward through commericials. I also like the DJs. In my house, I use the App through a bluetooth speaker.
Of course, if you want to listen to a single artist, Sirius probably isn't for you, but I like a wide variety of genres and I like discovering new artists / songs.

Had Rhapsody since 2010, but made the switch to Spotify a couple of years ago because of sharing and the fact that no one has Rhapsody. Rhapsody won't let go of their code, so you can look forward to spending some time migrating your playlists over or just wiping the slate clean. FWIW, Spotify is worth the change IMO.

I like 8tracks for the cost ($30/year). I just stream their premade playlists. You can't play individual songs on demand, but there is Youtube for that.

If you're using a mac and have an iPhone, Apple Music is 100% the way to go. They also do a student discount that is the same as Spotify's

- Flat monthly fee for access to a huge music library.
- No more buying iTunes track by track.
- No more Pandora "sounds like this tune" programming. Now I set up my playlists with the exact songs I want to listen to!
- But if I still want "sounds like this tune" programming, Spotify offers that too.
- As a part-time musician, I set up my set lists as playlists in Spotify = Fantastic for rehearsals!
- Spotify podcasts.
- Spotify radio.

I'm a Spotify Premium user the most.
I've used all the Premium services at one time or another -- Tidal, Deezer, Rdio (R.I.P.), Rhapsody/Napster, Google Play, Apple Music, etc.
I'm currenlty also subscribed to Pandora (new on-demand service rolling out in the coming months), SoundCloud & Amazon Unlimited ($7.99 with Prime)
They all have their quirks and benefits; and what's slowly happening is each of the Big 3 (Spotify, Apple & Amazon) are really showing strengths/focus within particular genres.
Apple does better with "urban" (rap, R&B, etc.)
Spotify is over-indexing with pop/EDM, when compared to the other services
Amazon is doing better with the "adult" artists, mostly due to their primary demo -- while still being the youngest of the 3 services, launching late last year.
Honestly, you aren't getting any more music at one service over the other. TIDAL still is trying to get their hands on exclusive content/windowed music. Apple and Spotify have their live sessions for certain artists. But as far as commercial releases... the industry is trying to level the playing field as much as possible. It's more about what you like the most visually and how you like what the services are creating (their playlists).
For those that care, artists get paid more from streams on Premium consumers than from Free-mium users. And different services pay different rates.
Lastly: "f**k you" to anybody that torrents in 2017. There are too many alternatives for you to be ripping off us folks in the industry (artists, employees, managers, etc.). I'd expect that from a Buckeye fan...

I agree with those on here who say that the family Spotify deal is great. To add to the topic a bit:
- My three kids (19, 16, and 12) love and prefer Spotify.
- My wife and I are trying to get the hang of Spotify, but have used Pandora for much longer.
- Pandora is better, in my opinion, for putting on more like a radio station. For a party or at holiday times, you select the channel and let the variety work for you.
- Spotify is WAY better for listening to exactly what you want.
- I haven't devoted enough time and energy to creating playlists on Spotify, but if you're willing to do that, it becomes even more powerful.

Hello dude. In my opinion, music career is very difficult now because there are so many singers who are really talented. Personally, I bought Spotify plays by this link and it helped me a lot to share my music with a great number of people. I know that some of them will definitely fall in love with my songs.
