USMNT vs. Portugal (In-Game) Thread

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

We had an in-game thread last week and we won.

Thought someone was going to start it, so I'll go ahead and give it a shot and hopefully we can turn our fortunes around.

I think it was Cameron who really cost us that game.  2 critical mistakes.  First the botched clear for their first goal, and second letting that guy beat him and run free into the box for the game tying header.  Thanks Cameron!!

The funny thing is outside of those two plays, Cameron was really solid in the back. But, he made two crucial errors and it might have cost us a spot in the Round of 16. Now, as Mr. Yost has pointed out, the U.S. is still in a very good position.

They advance with a win or a draw (Germany also advances with a draw, and there is a precedent for this sort of thing as has been pointed out).

Portugal would have to win 3-0 and the U.S. would have to lose 2-0 to get knocked out. If Portugal wins 4-0 and the U.S. loses 3-1, then lots would be drawn I believe.

Ghana has a better chance as they can win 2-0 and the U.S. can lose 1-0 and Ghana would advance.
