UM in the top 5 for 2020 4* safety Jordan Morant

A commitment isn’t coming soon but good news for UM to crack the top 5 and he is taking an OV to UM on June 21st.  Could UM be pulling the best safety in the country two years in a row?

This class will be a critical one for us to continue to move the program forward IMO. We are finally building depth at key positions and need to fill some holes and add 4 and 5 star kids behind the guys in place currently. Another year or two like last years class and we can have some injury-proofing and elite talent across the board.

Our RB recruiting is pretty thin if Gattis is going to continue to use a punishing running game.

Lots of “I hope this guy turns out good” combined with too few blue chip guys. Any RB’s career can end on a single play. You need lots of good options.

I’d add RB and DT to that, but what I was getting at is the difference in having Dax Hill!! And having Dax Hill and Jordan Morant!!! Even positions where we have good starting talent and reliable backups will be improved with a few more of these cases of back to back top tier players. Look at QB - anyone worried about that spot with McCaffrey, Milton, McNamara and McCarthy in the hopper? I’m not Maizening here, but the difference between one elite player at a position and a pipeline of elite players at a position will be significant for the next few years. Don’t need 5 stars across the board but shore up a few weak spots and we’ll be cooking!

I totally agree with you. The OT injury would have screwed us much less with a solid back up or two behind him. That ine injury put a hard ceiling on the season

This is a huge reason why OSU is always good. They have high level players backed up by high level players at every spot. Sometimes three deep even.

A side note: your post reminded me (again) of our "M" Club of Michigan quarterbacks: McCaffrey, Milton, McNamara, and McCarthy make up our list of QBs for the next half dozen seasons.

And they're all lined up behind our current starter, Mineral King (Shea).

Inconsistent is not the word I would use. They haven't signed a top 247 CB recruit in 3 years. I'm not sure why it fell off a cliff but Zordich really needs to get his ass in gear and start landing some guys. He was the primary on David Long and that's it. I really like Ryan Watts so I'm hoping they can find a way to flip him from OU. Other than that not sure what "big time guys" you're referring to.
