The UM Press Also Deserve Blame
So tired of these pressers where no one asks any real questions of Harbaugh. Maybe they are afraid of getting cut out or would rather he like them, but they carry water for him. Every question should be about his failure to properly utilize TB, NC, and DPJ. If he doesn’t answer, ask again. Instead; they always sanitize the storyline. Same with Don Brown. He’s entertaining, sure, but has gotten absolutely rocked three seasons in a row for games we should have been prepared for - PSU two years ago, OSU last year, and now Wisconsin.
September 21st, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
Baumgardner did go after him two weeks ago and Harbaugh’s response was: “Yeah, that’s low hanging fruit, Nick. I’ve listened to your podcast. You’re an expert. On baseball as well.”
September 21st, 2019 at 3:58 PM ^
Lol, the expert reprters, we should hire them to coach
September 21st, 2019 at 4:03 PM ^
Hey Avon...We need Wee Bay here in some role.
September 21st, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
Well 90% of the fan base kisses his ass so don’t expect anything different
September 21st, 2019 at 3:58 PM ^
Like I said, Michigan is about marketing and teams like OSU are about winning. Like someone posted earlier Michigan is a helmet, an overgrown stadium and a song.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
*Ugly helmet
*Outhouse
*Annoying tune LOL @ the chumps
September 21st, 2019 at 4:41 PM ^
Why don't you crawl back under the rock you came from.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
Couldn't have said it better. But, but ma BRAND and ACADEMICS!
September 21st, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
This, friends, is a Walmart Wolverine.
September 21st, 2019 at 6:09 PM ^
No a walmart wolverine is someone like WD who associated himself with the University and therefore expects all the benefits from Michigan's cachet but without doing all the the hard work in HS, life, and in college to have earned it.
September 21st, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
Making fun of the academics of other schools, which he also was unable to get into
September 21st, 2019 at 4:02 PM ^
This statement rings so true.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
College football is a huge business and you could say every team is about marketing.
The players and the coaches are the difference.
September 21st, 2019 at 3:58 PM ^
Baumgardner is the only one worth listening too. Sam Webb has the ADs and Borges dick too far down his throat to do anything.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:18 PM ^
I wish I could give every Michigan fan $10 not to listen or read, for one year, a word that comes out of these sunshine blowing, program mouthpieces. Maybe one year things will change and not everyone will buy into this BS hype that has somehow existed since 05.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
I don’t normally respond to this stuff. You can criticize his reporting all you want. You don’t have to listen to him. Sam and I are good friends and we go back to 9th grade. This comment goes too far. Keep it up and we will have a problem.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
Keep it up and we will have a problem.
Lighten up Francis.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:34 PM ^
No I will not. Where I’m from, we don’t joke about that kind of stuff. That’s how you get hands put on you..
September 21st, 2019 at 4:41 PM ^
Your mom needs to give you a time out internet tough guy.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
I don’t play internet tough guy.. my name is right in front of you.. come by and find out.
September 21st, 2019 at 5:26 PM ^
LOL.
Go to bed idiot. You're drunk (or roid raging).
September 21st, 2019 at 5:30 PM ^
I don’t drink, never taken any drugs. Two degrees from Michigan. So both your comments are inaccurate. How many degrees you have from there? You see my name. I’m easy to find. Go ahead and post your name instead of hiding behind an avatar.
September 21st, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
I have two degrees from Michigan -- but turning a discussion where you're an unhinged internet tough guy into a resume battle makes about as much sense as your virtual flexing.
September 21st, 2019 at 6:54 PM ^
Just responding to you inaccurate assertion that I’m a drunk and an idiot. Both were incorrect. You don’t know me, plus I wasn’t talking to you in the first place. You had to be a smart ass and jump in a conversation that really didn’t concern you. I was merely standing up for a friend of mine that some poster decide to use an obscene comment that was totally uncalled for and crossed the line. Sam has a family and this is his means of providing for his family..Instead of condemning the guy that called Sam a cocksucker, you decide to go after the guy who was merely defending a friend. Great move. Btw, still no name. Hiding behind your avatar, who’s being the internet tough guy?? How would you feel if your kids read that their dad was a cocksucker when you are really just doing your job?
September 21st, 2019 at 7:07 PM ^
that I’m a drunk and an idiot.
When you challenge/threaten people, yes, you are drunk and/or an idiot!!!
I wasn’t talking to you in the first place.
Don't care. This is a public forum.
jump in a conversation that really didn’t concern you.
Again public forum.
Btw, still no name.
I googled kscurrie2... the only thing which came up were sneakers.
Hiding behind your avatar,
Another unhinged comment. I'm not hiding behind anything. There's nothing to indicate that I'm hiding -- just previously not going to lower myself to your level.
who’s being the internet tough guy??
Come to 125th and Lowell in Broomfield Colorado. I'm in the Crofton Park development. Lets see if your big mouth as tough as you think you are. Like you said, you don't know me.
September 21st, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
So I see you didn’t address the cocksucker part, so you must be ok with that.. I’m In Saginaw, Michigan. Buena Vista to be exact. The corner of Hess and outer drive. Next time you come to a game, come on by and say hi.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
Sam Webb has to make a living. He can't blow up the team and still expect to make money. He said Lloyd Carr pulled his credential when he was just trying to inform them of something that someone else said. Once they straightened it out, he got it back. This program is too sensitive to take criticism.
September 21st, 2019 at 3:59 PM ^
Angelique has been a extension of the U of M marketing department for years now. I don't see how the press deserves blame.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
But that's only natural. Hell you can see the exact same complaints going back to the ancient greeks even!
The key is not to buy into it.
Wiscy trounced it's teams and didn't give up a score. Michigan struggled mightily vs MTSU and Army (albeit a decent team) and won in OT at home, and looked very, very, very inconsistent.
Law of transitive properties doesn't work in sports, but those trajectories are not equivalent.
It doesn't matter who you are, to win 50+ pts and pitch 2 consecutive shutouts is amazing.
Bush, Winovich, Long, and Gary (in that order) were HUGE for this team. That can't be understated enough. And Higdon gave us at least 2 maybe 3 wins last year breaking tackles behind the LOS in game-breaking situations, hiding the holes at OL. He was the MVP of last year.
The holes have not been filled.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^

Yes, Michigan lost talent from last year.
1. Bama, Clemson, etc., seem to win year after year after losing talent.
2. Urban even said it... there's still NFL talent on *THIS* roster.
The excuse machine is getting really fucking old to be regressing like this in year 5.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
The holes have not been filled.
If the "NFL talent" is at the skilled position, then that's great for those players, but that's not how you win games/championships.
We even picked up grad transfer Danna, and converted Mason to DT because we had like 5 DL leave in the last 2 years (DIB, Solomon, etc.)
There's no Bush-like guy waiting in the wings, and the current DL has two good rush/speed guys, but aren't going to get the push you need from a heavy 285-300lb DT.
But also the O-Line has been mediocre to atrocious, and today was atrocious.
Nothing is an excuse, it's all on the coaches/recruiting.
The LOS as whole seems to be the weakest part of this team, and that's a very, very bad place to be.
September 21st, 2019 at 7:08 PM ^
That's silly. M has 3 NFL wide receivers on their roster and don't throw to them.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:37 PM ^
Yep, the holes have not been filled and that's the issue....A program with UM's resources should not have these kind of holes on both lines....
September 21st, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
What the fuck is the press going to do?
You really think that this team is going to get better by having Angelique ask meaner questions?
September 21st, 2019 at 4:02 PM ^
Yes, I do.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
No, you're so right. That's why RichRod won the national championship when he was here.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:20 PM ^
The only way to hurt them is to stop going to games. Stop buying merchandise. Stop giving your hard earned dollars for mediocre results. I'm done.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:03 PM ^
The press can stop blowing fucking smoke up the fanbases ass. We get all these awesome reports and get us hyped up and then we all crash on game day. These assholes are salesmen, nothing else. Need the clicks. Need the subs, need the listeners. We are sold that Michigan is great and they're not.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:09 PM ^
Fuck em
September 21st, 2019 at 4:10 PM ^
Whatever
September 21st, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
So don't breath the smoke, and use your own mind. All of us saw how ugly the first two games were. This year is going to be like those dark years where we can't win any competitive games because the team has holes, and seems ill prepared, and certainly isn't Wisconsin or OSU.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
The press was fawning over the offense and Donovan Jeter and Kemp all pre-season. They must be blind.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:01 PM ^
So do we. Every time our complaining forces a major coaching or philosophical change on the program, we dramatically regress.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:07 PM ^
Bring pep back
September 21st, 2019 at 4:14 PM ^
We put up 38 points against a better Wisconsin defense with Pep as the offensive coordinator.
How many points did we score today?
September 21st, 2019 at 4:01 PM ^
They like to talk rainbows and unicorns, but can't come to criticize the problems. Not that the coaches are going to provide worthwhile answers anyway.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:01 PM ^
Belichick gives less awkward pressers than Harbs.
September 21st, 2019 at 4:01 PM ^
Not sure how the UM press can help the team win
September 21st, 2019 at 4:03 PM ^
You can ask great questions all you want, but if the coach isn’t going to answer them thoroughly it doesn’t matter. JH doesn’t say a lot in pressers. That’s just how he is. Blaming the press is weak. And it’s also not for a lack of scrutiny. Coach at Michigan is one of the most high pressure jobs, partially because there is a lot of media around you.
I don’t care about Webb, Jansen etc. Their jobs aren’t to provide hard hitting journalism. Webb’s primary job is recruiting insider and that’s what he’s best at. I’ve never given his analysis any second thoughts.
