U of M Online Learning - Free to Alumni
stuck at home with extra time? Hat tip to friend-of-the-blog and wonderful internet person @internetRaj U of M's online learning is free to current students and alumni.

There are 4-8 week courses, "teach outs", learning series, and even degree programs.
I'm looking at improving my Excel skills with this course https://online.umich.edu/courses/introduction-to-structured-query-language-sql/
and wondering if this would provide help as we're all working remote:

This is definitely a great time to try and find the positives in a weird situation. My work hours have been cut, so I'm definitely trying to use the time to do something productive that will help me long term. Thanks for the heads up!

They have free courses through Coursera as well. I took the Web Applications for Everyone course. It was fantastic.

I second the Coursera courses. I dug into and completed a couple of specializations on Python programming, and it helped me snag a new job in tech last summer. I would recommend the Python for Everybody courses, as they have a entertaining and engaging professor that really helps learn the material.
I got roped into paying for Coursera (after signing up for the trial) while trying to do the Python course. Did I misstep or did you have to pay for that version of the course as well?

Not meaning to threadjack because it's definitely similar but - Udemy is having a sale on their courses currently.
It's how I learned Python - highly recommend their platform

Maybe there's a course on hyperlinking? ;)
Thanks for posting!

Online learning for alumni is an oxymoron. A U-M degree means you already know everything.

Many of those same courses are found on edx.org... and coursera (which copies but is not as comprehensive as edx).
All of the courses are FREE.
What is the paid for part is to get a certificate out of the deal. But you don't have to pay any fees for the experience!

Right, but recently Coursera and Edx have actually gotten more restrictive in what you can access for free to encourage people to pay. Lots of courses actually don't allow you to take any of the in-course knowledge check assessments without paying, for example.
Haven't seen that.
What I have seen over time (I've been on edx since it was just MIT) are edits to the UI encourages someone/is set up for sometime to click the pay button by default...
… but you don't have too. The course is free. The certificate of completion costs $.
This is fantastic. Leaders and Best.

Our reality tells us that a good worker should always learn something new and develop their skills. Personally. I decided that I need a new language but I didn't know which one is better to choose. Fortunately, the following link game me the answers about the most relevant languages for business
Thanks for sharing that! I appreciate all those opportunities we have now to study online. I know many people don't find it effective, but you should choose the most convenient platform for yourself. I used to pass a course at https://udemy.com but I could not go until the end. I decided to find a private tutor on this website. Now I enjoy my studying hours!
