U-M athletics gets $50,000 worth of scholarship funds for finishing 3rd in Capital One Cup men's standings

Men's sports got 74 points total while Stanford swept both Capital One Cups. Kinda remarkable the men's side made the top 5 but the women's side didn't given Football's struggles and women's athletics had Field Hockey runner-up and the National Title in Gym. They seem to have also added more sports to Group B which awards more points for top-10 finishes in said sports. Here's a link to the scoring structure:

Don't know whether to say meh, Stanford or meh, what will $50K do in the grand scheme of things.

But nevertheless, we beat ohio state?

I'm curious about who at Capital One chooses the sports and the categories, A or B, and what reasoning they use. Beach volleyball as a 'B'? Why is that on par with basketball and soccer? Even Harvard (the Michigan of the East) doesn't have beach volleyball among their 40 varsity sports. The only Big Ten school that fields a team is that beach volleyball perennial powerhouse of the prairie, Nebraska. If Capital One wants to fairly recognize the top athletic programs, they should choose, for Group B, sports which do not reflect a regional bias as much.

"Perennial powerhouse of the prairie" = Nebraska, LOL.

Nebraska is the only B1G state that is not only landlocked (no access to either the ocean or a Great Lake), it is double landlocked --- none of the states it borders has access to either the ocean or a Great Lake either.

Point being, there are not many beaches in Nebraska.  :-)
