Two new football offers extended

Submitted by umbig11 on

OL Riley (6-5, 285) and Austin (6-4, 285) Anderson from Mineola, TX have been offered. Both are three stars on Rivals and 24/7 but, they are both rising as they have offers from big time programs (TCU, TX Tech, Ill, K St, SMU, Houston, Vandy, ASU etc).

I chose to look at this story over the Faygo soda pop story on my own. Thanks for posting this info, maybe if their names were more exotic you would have gotten a pass for posting football news on this blog.

Which isn't the same thing as "big time programs." The only truly nationally-relevant schools besides Michigan that have offered Austin are KSU, TCU, and Missouri, and calling those schools "big time programs" is a bit of a stretch.

That doesn't mean that we shouldn't be offering these kids; at this point I trust Harbaugh and Drevno without reservation. The Andersons appear to be solid prospects at a position that's notoriously difficult to accurately predict in advance, so it's not necessary to engage in grade-inflation.

I'll take theirs over ours. Aren't all P5 teams "big time" in the grand scheme? LIke a bell curve distribution along these lines, with +/- national relevance crossing between Big Time (relevant) and Schools You've Heard Of (not relevant)

Schools You've Heard Of

Would that address your grammatical and connotational concerns about the varied definitions of big time, and make you feel better?

And I suspect they'd try to make austin a center. They're limited athletically but they were absolutely dominating kids. They both also list 4.0 GPAs so I bet they're typical smart olinemen.

I'm sure that they are good at football, but "big-time" offers from whom? TCU has been great the last few years, but of the schools that you listed, I wouldn't call them "big-time" by any means. Bama, FSU, Okla, USC, THOSE are BIG-TIME offers. Perhaps they will materialize down the road, and with that said those are nice offers for 3* guys. And we know that a TX 3* is pretty good.

Is to get at least 1 offer to a D1 school. Your ignorant of you think or diminish a kids school list cause it's not Bama, LSU, Michigan, ND, USC. Getting at least 10 offers from legit D1 schools is s awesome accomplishment. Whether there all Bama Types or all Wash St types! Horrible to talk about a kids list like that

Will scour the US, watching tape and evaluating these guys for themselves. I am of the mindset that we throw away the stars and just be happy each time they find players who fit the roles that the staff envisions. I also couldn't agree more that this staff has it right recruiting the best areas is the country hard. Watching Harbaugh work his magic is gonna be SO much fun!
