Congrats to Trey! Might be hard to carve out a role in what's still a pretty crowded backcourt, but he'll be on a team with as good a chance as anyone to be playing in the finals next year, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him get some run as a bench scorer.

He certainly is better than TJ McConnell who was the backup for the Sixers last year (no longer on the roster). Seems like he should get a fair chance to be the backup PG.

That's a good spot for Trey. Philly lost a lot this offseason (Butler, Reddick), so minutes will be there. He's shown an ability to score in The League. He should have opportunities to do so with the 76'ers.

As a backup PG, are the Sixers looking for a player who can distribute at a high level like their starter (Simmons) or are they looking for a guy off the bench who can score; even at a lower % (i.e. Jamal Crawford)?

Burke is not going to be the facilitator, run the offense type like Simmons, but if he can come in for 10-12 mins a game to score 8-10 ppg and actually hit a 3, unlike their starter, he could be alright

My interpretation is that the 76ers are looking for a guy who can occasionally spell Simmons at PG and who can also come in during small-ball lineups.

TJ McConnell was that guy last year, but he and Simmons were unplayable together because Simmons is not a shooter and TJ took 5 hours to get his shot off.

Burke should get some run as a backup PG and off-ball scorer. The main guy he'll be competing with for minutes is Raul Neto.

My prediction after Burke left UM. He would have a 10 year NBA career as a solid backup.

Nailed that one huh?

You ask why I predicted that? He just never had exceptional explosiveness and he didn't have great height to get his shot off. He has done pretty well all things considered. He is highly skilled and the fact he is still in the league is a tribute to his talent.

If everybody shows up in shape/relatively spry and stays healthy, Lakers have the best starting 5, but that's a pretty big "if" with Rondo and Cousins. And even Danny Green, despite coming off one of his best seasons as a pro, is still a 32-year-old grit & grind guy who's played a ton of minutes over the last 12 months. Philly has some question marks, too, with Embiid maybe being a fatguy now, Horford getting old, Simmons's development arc in question, etc., but they're probably a surer thing with respect to starting 5 dominance.
