Tony Grimes not returning to Ole Miss in '11

Submitted by ademock27 on

He was suspended back in November for a violation of team rules.  He started one game for the rebels this season.  Hopefully he ends up somewhere.  I really wanted him in maize and blue last year, but it appears better that he didnt with everything that has happened with this program recently.

It seemed like it.  From what I heard, the coaches stopped going hard after Tony Grimes awhile before NSD.  But Rashad Knight was still considering Michigan very late in the process.  And on top of that, you never know how much the recruitment of Demar Dorsey had an effect on Sean Parker's decision to flip to Washington on NSD.

So yeah...I think the Dorsey recruitment hurt Michigan in several ways.

Did'nt see you calling Dorsey a s/ storm when he committed, Seem to remember you defending him. How do you know what kind of a s/ storm Grimes would have been if he would have come here. Man-up and say maybe i was wrong about the situation.

What I said at the time was that if Rich Rodriguez offered a player, then he should have done his research and there should have been preliminary discussion about whether he would qualify or not.  I defended Dorsey in that I thought ethics suggested that an offered scholarship should be honored by the institution.

And no matter what anyone thinks about Dorsey, it was a shitstorm.

The coaches aren't clairvoyant either. Obiously there was some miscommunication between the athletic department and the admissions department. Sorry, if the coaches should perceive and forestall any conceiveable obstacle to a player making the team, they're failing. This was not Rodriguez's fault entirely.

I'm not saying they're clairvoyant.  But it's part of their job to recruit kids and have a grasp on their academic standing, especially when they're recruiting for a position of need (defensive back).  If Demetrius Hart were a non-qualifier, well...that's not a huge deal, because we don't NEED an impact running back this year.  But in 2010, we NEEDED defensive backs.

They obviously did do their due diligence, and there was a mistakle in the communication between the departments. I'm not holding that against Rodriguez, he thought Dorsey would qualify (and he did, per the NCAA) but apparently the admissions department had a problem with the program AFTER he committed and tried to enroll.

What is a s/ storm about a kid not getting in, you can't be talking about the media scrutiny. We long ago on this board dismissed any of that. Here is your definition of a s/ storm " Hey did you here Dorsey did'nt quailify? wow that sucks". Don't know how the team got over that.

Oh, I'm sorry.  I didn't realize that all media discussion should be dismissed.

I guess the whole "NCAA sanction" thing doesn't equal a shitstorm because, after all, it was discussed in the media, either.  In fact, I guess the only shitstorms that can occur are ones that aren't reported.

Yep, the good ol' unreported shitstorm.  Those are the worst.

UM has had enough with the DB injuries/transfers/non-qual/kick-off team /hit by bolt of lightning/hanging out with Jimmy Hoffa at the Red Fox.  No more drama PLEASE.
