Thursday Night Football Thread

  • North Carolina at Pitt just kicked off on ESPN.

(Not a lot of fans in the stands! Woof, Narduzzi).

  • Steelers at Browns on Fox.

(Can Freddy Kitchens win two games in a row? Can the Steelers continue their stellar defensive play since acquiring Minkah Fitzpatrick?)

Or maybe you just feel like drinking and complaining tonight. Speaking of which, is "low T" a thing? Do any of those GNC supplements actually work? Turning 40 felt like flipping a switch, and not in a good way.

My wife just asks "is this really a second staight night of MACtion, please no". I guess she's had too much MACtion. I said, "you rather watch Penn State/Georgetown basketball?" **wife leaves room**

Steelers miss 44 yard FG, 4th and 3.  Fucking go for it.  That's what you get Tomlin, playing that old ass style.

I'm just mad frankly... have OBJ and truly need a W in fantasy...a TD wouldve been too good a luck to start the week.

If Seton Hall really is the #12 team in the country, then there are probably only 11 good teams.  The Pirates are LOL bad on offense, 1 guy trying to dribble through 5, then tossing prayers at the basket.

ESPN doesn't even really need to spend 15 seconds talking Ohio State-Rutgers. All they really needed to say is "Rutgers is dead right now. They simply need to be buried on Saturday."

Helmet into the Steelers WR earhole.  He had to be helped to the sideline, clearly Lewerke’d.  Blood coming out of his right ear.  Browns S ejected.  The ball was obviously overthrown and he takes a cheap shot 2 steps after.  Then he jumps up and down like an asshole after the targeting call.

Kent State scores 21 pts in 2:47 with a TD, onside kick (TD), then a blocked punt (TD) to tie the game.  Won it with a long field goal with :01 left.

Nothing at GNC is FDA approved or peer-reviewed.

Typically, the best case scenario for its products is expensive urine as supplements safely pass through your system without accomplishing more than a placebo affect.

The middle-case scenario is that patrons are being suckers to poor logic, as with the “low-T” supplements, which don’t possess testosterone (as that would require FDA approval and clinician’s prescription) but a metabolite of testosterone, which could theoretically be used to make testosterone (or a thousand other molecules in non-sex cells) but cannot force that pathway, since low testosterone is exceedingly rarely caused by lack of metabolites. That makes these supplements tantamount to saying “Well a new house requires nuts and bolts, so I’ll send some nuts and bolts to City Hall and before long, POW!, there’ll be a new house.”

There are also safety issues for a number of these supplements. As the capsule materials are poorly regulated, these safety issues can include objective toxins. But even “well understood, essential, and pure” biomolecules can be poisonous in excessive concentrations. Hypervitaminosis is seldom discussed but real:

Dangers of excessive supplement use:

Vitamin B6 (neurotoxicity)

Vitamin B3 (hepatitis-mimicking symptoms: jaundice, elevated liver enzymes in plasma)

Vitamin D (hypercalcemia, atherosclerosis, malignant calcification, generally increased mortality)

Vitamin E (hemorrhage, prostate cancer, elevated risk of death in general)

If you want a vitamin a day, eat a salad and an entree. Meaningful vitamin deficiency in America is vastly overstated.

Genuinely yours,

I think we can safely say Mason Rudolph is not the heir apparent at QB. On the bright side, he does have two tackles. Maybe there's a place for him on kick coverage.

I’m SHOCKED everyone I see talking about Garret. Pouncey kicking him in the head was 100x worse.

People acting like swinging a helmet is like a rock or something. I mean every play a more dangerous occurrence happens. I would rather get a helmet swing at me than take a Devin Bush blind side hit any day.

Pouncey is the real villain here. And maybe Rudolph as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if he said something truly gross to Garrett.

Fuck Ohio.  They are trash.  The Steelers should have snapped his fucking neck after that.  He could have killed Rudolph with that helmet swing.
