Thursday Night Football Thread
- North Carolina at Pitt just kicked off on ESPN.
(Not a lot of fans in the stands! Woof, Narduzzi).
- Steelers at Browns on Fox.
(Can Freddy Kitchens win two games in a row? Can the Steelers continue their stellar defensive play since acquiring Minkah Fitzpatrick?)
Or maybe you just feel like drinking and complaining tonight. Speaking of which, is "low T" a thing? Do any of those GNC supplements actually work? Turning 40 felt like flipping a switch, and not in a good way.

My wife just asks "is this really a second staight night of MACtion, please no". I guess she's had too much MACtion. I said, "you rather watch Penn State/Georgetown basketball?" **wife leaves room**
November 14th, 2019 at 8:36 PM ^
Kudos to the Mrs. for recognizing back-2-back MACtion. Shame she didn't catch the Tuesday WMich vs. Ohio MACtion and realize this was actually the *third* straight day of MACtion.
I will watch whatever college football games they have on.
November 14th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
Third straight night of #MACtion.
Edit: Didn't see above post.
November 14th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^

Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go!! Destroy Cleveland!! Watching at home here in PGH!!
November 14th, 2019 at 8:30 PM ^
I hope Mgrowold has a terrible night. I don't like the Steelers but I hate Cleveland.
Hope Devin has a big game
November 14th, 2019 at 8:38 PM ^
Looks like Devin Bush will be free Saturday. Need him leading the team out of the tunnel
November 14th, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
Sparty knobslobbing getting old by the announcers
November 14th, 2019 at 10:20 PM ^
Dude, you are in for a long year.
November 14th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
Damn near kicked the holders hand on the ,mishandled snap. No good!
November 14th, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
I was at the Steelers game last Sunday against the rams. Fast D crappy O.
GO Steelers!
November 14th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
Steelers miss 44 yard FG, 4th and 3. Fucking go for it. That's what you get Tomlin, playing that old ass style.
I'm just mad frankly... have OBJ and truly need a W in fantasy...a TD wouldve been too good a luck to start the week.
November 14th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
Cool punt idea, got a whole 23 yards. Fuck these coaches.
November 14th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
Basketball: Towson within two of #15 Florida, with the ball, one minute left on ESPN2.
ESS-EEE-SEE
November 14th, 2019 at 9:00 PM ^
Doesn't look like they're going to get it done, but Florida's not covering the KenPom 16-point spread. :)
November 14th, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
and sparty is playing the hall tonight in hoops. down 1, early, 11-10.
November 14th, 2019 at 9:26 PM ^
If Seton Hall really is the #12 team in the country, then there are probably only 11 good teams. The Pirates are LOL bad on offense, 1 guy trying to dribble through 5, then tossing prayers at the basket.
November 14th, 2019 at 9:30 PM ^
well its tied at 27 with 2 min left in the first half.
November 14th, 2019 at 9:40 PM ^
Lots of rebounds in this game!
But I got the feeling once Winston gets back into in the second half, SH will end up losing by 10 - 15 points.
November 14th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
I mean, this game is so bad, Loyer is one of the *stars!*
November 14th, 2019 at 10:01 PM ^
#35 for Seton Hall looks like he is ten feet tall on the defense, and four feet tall on offense.
November 14th, 2019 at 9:25 PM ^
I'm rooting for Cleveland. I like Kitchens, us fat guys gotta stick together.
November 14th, 2019 at 9:44 PM ^
ESPN doesn't even really need to spend 15 seconds talking Ohio State-Rutgers. All they really needed to say is "Rutgers is dead right now. They simply need to be buried on Saturday."
November 14th, 2019 at 9:58 PM ^
Wow, how has Pittsburgh won four in a row with that offense, and that QB?
November 14th, 2019 at 11:02 PM ^
WHO is calling the offensive plays (all puns intended) for the Steelers?! That's some late Hoke era incompetence right there.
November 14th, 2019 at 10:32 PM ^
Helmet into the Steelers WR earhole. He had to be helped to the sideline, clearly Lewerke’d. Blood coming out of his right ear. Browns S ejected. The ball was obviously overthrown and he takes a cheap shot 2 steps after. Then he jumps up and down like an asshole after the targeting call.
November 14th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
Not to mention the crowd booing after the replay? Hello!! Your guy just cheap-shotted a guy in the head. Like you can't see that??
Cleveland fans are just as bad as Philly fans.
November 14th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^
Kent State scores 21 pts in 2:47 with a TD, onside kick (TD), then a blocked punt (TD) to tie the game. Won it with a long field goal with :01 left.
#MACtion
November 14th, 2019 at 10:36 PM ^
Clete Blakeman making his presence felt in Cleveland!
November 14th, 2019 at 11:35 PM ^
Jeebus dude,
New York pressed the Give the Steelers some Calls Button (which is next to the Give Green Bay some Calls Button).
4 fcuking calls on 1 drive with one (1) having validity
November 14th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
Seton Hall can win this! Somewhere out there, P.J. Carlissimo is being choked by one of his own players but is probably also smiling!
November 14th, 2019 at 10:44 PM ^
Ugh--as soon as I type that Seton Hall lays many bricks.
November 14th, 2019 at 11:06 PM ^
Nothing at GNC is FDA approved or peer-reviewed.
Typically, the best case scenario for its products is expensive urine as supplements safely pass through your system without accomplishing more than a placebo affect.
The middle-case scenario is that patrons are being suckers to poor logic, as with the “low-T” supplements, which don’t possess testosterone (as that would require FDA approval and clinician’s prescription) but a metabolite of testosterone, which could theoretically be used to make testosterone (or a thousand other molecules in non-sex cells) but cannot force that pathway, since low testosterone is exceedingly rarely caused by lack of metabolites. That makes these supplements tantamount to saying “Well a new house requires nuts and bolts, so I’ll send some nuts and bolts to City Hall and before long, POW!, there’ll be a new house.”
There are also safety issues for a number of these supplements. As the capsule materials are poorly regulated, these safety issues can include objective toxins. But even “well understood, essential, and pure” biomolecules can be poisonous in excessive concentrations. Hypervitaminosis is seldom discussed but real:
Dangers of excessive supplement use:
Vitamin B6 (neurotoxicity)
Vitamin B3 (hepatitis-mimicking symptoms: jaundice, elevated liver enzymes in plasma)
Vitamin D (hypercalcemia, atherosclerosis, malignant calcification, generally increased mortality)
Vitamin E (hemorrhage, prostate cancer, elevated risk of death in general)
If you want a vitamin a day, eat a salad and an entree. Meaningful vitamin deficiency in America is vastly overstated.
Genuinely yours,
one of the board’s resident MD/PhDs.

Good tips! Maybe it's just my thyroid acting up?
November 14th, 2019 at 11:58 PM ^
It is probably very unhealthy but the test boosters at GNC make people huge. I have seen people use those and get results that’s rival HGH.
November 15th, 2019 at 2:31 PM ^
Could be. Of course, an anecdote is not peer-reviewed. So when you notice this about people, you aren't controlling for workout regimen or clandestine substance use.
November 14th, 2019 at 11:15 PM ^
Jesus Baker sucks. So does their Oline
November 14th, 2019 at 11:28 PM ^
I think we can safely say Mason Rudolph is not the heir apparent at QB. On the bright side, he does have two tackles. Maybe there's a place for him on kick coverage.
November 14th, 2019 at 11:36 PM ^
But all my friends who were Steelers fans said he's the next Ben Roethlisberger (without the alleged personal indiscretions, of course)
November 14th, 2019 at 11:42 PM ^
Well, there's something I've never seen before.
Myles Garrett should be done for the year now.
November 14th, 2019 at 11:51 PM ^
Yeah, year long suspension seems about right. That was pretty bad.
November 15th, 2019 at 12:02 AM ^
I’m SHOCKED everyone I see talking about Garret. Pouncey kicking him in the head was 100x worse.
People acting like swinging a helmet is like a rock or something. I mean every play a more dangerous occurrence happens. I would rather get a helmet swing at me than take a Devin Bush blind side hit any day.
Pouncey is the real villain here. And maybe Rudolph as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if he said something truly gross to Garrett.
November 14th, 2019 at 11:43 PM ^
Fuck Ohio. They are trash. The Steelers should have snapped his fucking neck after that. He could have killed Rudolph with that helmet swing.
November 14th, 2019 at 11:52 PM ^
Such bs, Rudolph perhaps should not have tried to pull Garrett's helmet off as he laid on the ground. Both sides are in the wrong here.
November 14th, 2019 at 11:56 PM ^
Garrett body slammed him well after he had thrown the ball. That started the whole thing and I don't blame Rudolph for trying to protect himself. Garrett should've just laid off him up 2 TDs with 10 seconds left in the game and none of this happens.
November 15th, 2019 at 12:02 AM ^
I will agree with that but bottom line Rudolph did try to pull his helmet off (which probably led to the whole deal).
I wonder what Pouncey gets for the kicking, also?
