Losing that Iowa game sucked, but the 3-3 tie with Illinois really hurt. We fumbled on their 12 yard line late in the 4th.
Woodley was a beast though!
Random Thoughts thread?
#56 Billy Harris came immediately to mind along with that season. It could have been a special year. Funny how certain numbers and players spark memories.
M was 6-6 the year before, and wasn't expected to do anything that year. Instead, 10-1-1 and finished ranked #2 in both polls. Only '97 topped it in the last half-century.
Wheatley is just a huge man and what is he? 3rd string? I'd be fine with going 1 WR and 2 TEs every play this year. Seems like we have an embarassment of riches in so many positions at least compared to how the depth chart has looked several times this past decade
Can you imagine a goal line 4 TE set: Butt, Bunting, Wheatley & Asiasi.

Teams only have so many LBs or tall CBs who can guard a TE
And they can catch the ball.

Oh, and real grass.
I've been futilely trying to embed that photo, so if anyone can help, a big THANK YOU!
It's a photo of my now 21-yr-old son when he was just 3, posing with James Hall after the 1998 Spring Game. My son had found Hall's helmet on the grass and put it on his own head behind Hall as James was signing autographs and posing for pictures with/for other M-fans. We spotted him doing so before Hall did, and took a few pictures (one with him wearing the helmet, one of him on Hall's shoulder pads, and this one). Needless to say, Hall got quite a kick out of seeing my son wearing his Winged Helmet.
This is the only one of those 3 pictures I can find right now, as I think the other two are in a photo album that's in my ex-wife's possession. I'll have to someday soon get copies.
BTW, I apologize for his red (ugh!) shirt. It was a warm spring day and we had removed his Michigan hoodie earlier.
I wish I could figure out the embed myself. You need to frame that photo.
Why are you holding a red and white football?!? In the Big House no less!!! Blasphemy, even at your tender age!!!
BTW-great picture.
Oops, another embed fail.
