The Team, The Team, The Team!

This post is brought about by Gerald R. Ford's video stuck undeservedly in the sanctions thread.

Have any of you been on a very successful team in your athletic careers?  I have been lucky enough to be on some highly regarded and successful programs and I used the love the feeling of stepping of of the bus or into the gym or on the field in uniform as a team and knowing how good we were.  From the last benchwarmer to the big name guys, every guy was proud of the uniform.  You would fight each other and bicker back and forth all week during practice, but on game days, it was the team and everybody else, and you had the feeling that everyone else was jealous.  I would imaging that is what the guys feel when they are running out of the tunnel and slapping the banner.  They are not being singled out, but are all a part of the team.  After reading about Florida's struggles this year, I am hoping our guys make me proud and come together as a team.  I also wish they would play that speech over the loud speakers just before the guys came out of the tunnel before every game.

I played on a lacrosse team that went 3-9 -- our pregame warmups consisted of blasting Metallica, doing jagerbombs, shotgunning Busch Lights, and staring menacingly at our opponents.  Does that count?

We were pretty pleased with ourselves, all things considered...  You need at least 10 guys to field a full team, and more often than not, that's all we had.  We actually had some pretty talented players (and I'm no slouch), but it's hard to play a game with so much running with no subs.  So, we figured f*** it, let's at least have a good time.
