Tai Streets throwing out 1st Pitch for Sept 30th Tigers game

As posted before, September 30th is UM night at Comerica Park for the Tigers vs. Twins game. This game is more than a promotion for the Tigers. Over a decade ago the Tigers partnered with some UM alums who created a scholarship to honor the late UM professor Bernard "Pat" Maloy in the School of Kinesiology who passed after a very quick bout with cancer. The scholarship goes to UM students with financial need that was created because either they or a family member have or had cancer. The Tigers give $5 per ticket sold through the link below back to the scholarship and also everyone who buys through the link gets a maize and blue Tigers hat.

Typically the Tigers allow a bunch of UM presence at the game. This year the UM ROTC Color Guard will present the flag and Michigan student glee club "The G-Men" will sing the National Anthem. Shortly thereafter former UM Football standout and member of the 1997 National Championship team Tai Streets will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch.

Great cause and a good time. You can buy tickets at this link:

Great catch!  Hope he's been practicing throwing a baseball.  Bouncing a "first pitch" can be embarrassing.

This is a scholarship/fund raiser is a wonderful idea.

Edit:  I didn't see Fishbulb's comment that Tai was on the baseball team.  Still, don't bounce it!

I was still a student when this game was played and my girlfriend lived in Chicago. Since it was an away weekend, I visited her. We went out that afternoon on the L and she said she tell me when we reached our stop. Her dad was a Northwestern grad, and she was born in Evanston.

It was Central Street. We bought seats from a guy on the street and attended this soaked game.

We've been married almost 23 years and we have attended every single Northwestern vs. Michigan game since.

"[M]ember of the 1997 National Championship team."

Selling him a bit short there, aren't we?  How about adding "who caught two 50+ yard TD bombs in the Rose Bowl" maybe?
