Sunday College Football Open Thread

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
Yeah, it's Sunday, I'm late to the party, but I'm also way too addicted to college football. Cody Hawkins just made the best pass he's made all night to open the second half. Colorado is waking up. It's 20-10 Colorado State in the lead. This game has been surprisingly good. I'm pulling for Colorado to come back, just because they CSU plays in the WAC, and any win for CSU somehow will make Boise State's win over CSU look better. Go Hawkinses!

We need more of these. Helps eliminate a post about every play / game in college football that occurs. At least that's the idea. Upon a second viewing, this time on DVR, Michigan again beat Western. Same score, too.

Well that was fun. That kid got rocked for not getting a leading with the head roughing penalty. The second half was a great half. Both teams played well and penalty free for the most part. I'll hopefully have another thread for tomorrow night's game as well.

Well, I don't think Hawkins is going to make it after this year. CSU is in their 2nd year under Steve Fairchild as their coach; Colorado is in their 4th year with Hawkins at the helm. Colorado has a boatload of more talent than CSU; also CSU was breaking in a new QB. Weird that alot of BSU head coaches flame out at the bigger gigs (Dirk Koetter at ASU, Hawkins at Colorado). Maybe Petersen will finally break the curse?

I agree that Hawkins might be done after this year. I never would have expected he'd fare so poorly; given his record at BSU I figured he was a great hire for the Buffs. Since I always root for CU (other than when they play us) I'm pretty disappointed for them. It's kind of questionable Hawkins keeps putting his son in as the starting QB, since he's not done much there. Nepotism is rarely a good thing. Another guy on the burnin' hot seat is Al Grohe. Losing to William & Mary, at home, is a sure way to get your ass fired if you're already in perilous shape. And then look at WVU, who sort of struggled at home against Liberty, Jerry Falwell's school.
