Can only get better. I hit bottom like 4 weeks ago. I am positive about this team and Rich. He reminds me of Bo with his confidence and swagger. The job wasn't all he thought it was, but he will lead us to the promise land. Time for the team to close ranks and build from this season. Cheers for Tate and Shav'd. And Fitz and Martav. We got the best coach and stop all this nonsense about firing Martin and Rich. I am guilty of saying to fire Schafer, but I actually think it will work out with him as well. I think I am a masochist because I am even more excited about Michigan football than ever.

I'm still not sold on Shafer. I know he is well-regarded among his peers, but I just can't believe a D with this kind of talent up front couldn't do better than give up around 30 a game (and give up 40+ four times). I'm not convinced we took full advantage of the personnel we had up front. There were just too many times we used three-man fronts that left some of our talented DLs watching on the sidelines.

I don't think Shafer should go yet. A lot of the problems weren't always scheme but piss-poor tackling, which to me is a holdover from the Carr and English/Herrmann days. The entire secondary this year was absolutely pathetic. It was what ultimately killed this defense, not the linebackers. Brown, Stewart, and Warren were terrible; Trent was serviceable. Warren flat out has to step his game up because it's just going to be him and a green Cissoko out there next year as the corners. Brown needs to be on the bench. With Turner, Smith, Williams, and hopefully Emilien coming in I have to think that he's done as a starter.

not a bad QB when he's healthy, let's just hope we can stay healthy next year and a couple of our frosh o-lineman can step up as well. Also let's hope we can real in Jelani Jenkins and Big Will. We definitely need some playmakers on D.

but he is not right for the type of offense we run, period. We NEED a running threat. And we NEED arm strength. And we NEED someone that can throw a bubble screen. That's our offense. It will be killer when we have the right people. In January.

I think Threet does have the arm strength, but his elbow injury took some of it away. I think with practice, he will get better at throwing screens. Remember that he is a freshman right now. Not many frosh QBs show great mechanics. It's true that he's not a great runner, but if he's our best passer, we probably should still play him, at least part of the time. We can do a Leak/Tebow-type rotation with him and one of the freshmen.

results of some of Michigan players and coaches. Surely some in the program didn't perform like I thought they would. Things can only get better. The biggest gut blow... the lost to Toledo took all the *maize & blue* out of me. Just didn't think Michigan was this devoid of Big X talent. Even with learning new system...talent wise, our team is lacking. Saw TO MANY first this season...however,I still have faith in R2.

Our loss to Toledo basically came down to a lack of talent/depth at one position: QB. Sheridan played the entire second half after Threet went down and just couldn't hack it. We had been moving the ball with Threet, but then our offense ground to a halt after halftime. The frustrating thing about having a bad QB is that that one position can screw up your whole offense. (Having said that, we still could have pulled out that game if LoPata hadn't shanked a short FG at the end. Minnesota aside, LoPata turned in a disappointing season.)

Look. They guy inherited a mess. Carr didn't leave him with anything, the University hired him wanting to get out of the Big Ten big/slow NFL style of play. That's what UM fans have been screaming about for years. The school DID something. Good for the University for taking that step, but it sucks that everybody is driving up the sale of Prozac over it. People DO need to get a life. This football program will be fine. This is merely a zit on the ass of Goliath. This is Michigan. Let's stand behind this guy. You'll soon forget this mess. There. Sorry. Rant over.
