stop anti-michigan wikipedia smearing!!

Submitted by qed on
We have to stay vigilent on wikipedia against our football enemies. I noticed that on one of the wikipedia pages, our Heisman trophy winners were called cheaters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_Wolverines_football I promptly fixed this problem (btw...there were a couple Michigan football records on this webpage that even I was unaware of). Anyway, if you are looking at Michigan stuff, keep an eye out for this stuff.

I've actually been editing the page quite frequently this year to keep pace with wins, streaks, and percentages, as per MGoBlue.com. Thanks for bringing this to our collective attention. Is that all they did?

qed, I'd like to thank you. You just spurred me on to spend an hour of my life editing the Michigan Hockey page. Yay, lol. I really need to start my new job. I reply sarcastically, but I learned something really cool: this season (hopefully), when Michigan Hockey clinches its all-time 1,500th win, Coach Berenson will also record his 700th win as head coach. It looks like it may line up. How cool is that!?

To stop the article vandalism, you need to semiprotect the page so only registered users can edit. It will also allow for all drive-by vandalism edits to be reported to wikipedia so the user can be banned.

You don't have to semiprotect a page. All edits are viewed (or are supposed to be) by administrators, who will revert what they consider to be vandalism, usually within minutes. If that does not happen for whatever reason, you can also (if you have a wikipedia account) put a page on your "watch" list and view any changes that have been made to it.

It wasn't anything earth shattering but I think that might be why it escaped the adminstrators and why due dilegence by the michigan faithful is necessary: "all of these Heisman winners cheated, they payed the committee to vote for them " You can view all the history of changes at the wikepedia article. I also looked to see what else that person did (from his IP address). He had some other comment that was a already reverted but it was also a little more obvious.
