Stephen A Smith to Deliver Keynote Address at MSBC in Ann Arbor tomorrow...

MSBC is one of my favorite conferences that I come back to Michigan for. It's tremendous experience for students and brings back a host of alumni. However, this year the keynote speaker is Stephan A Smith.

In today's age of inflammatory media that thrives on opinionated arguments for the sake of clicks, there's arguably no one better at this craft than Stephen A. Frankly, he has built a career based on this approach.

The target and timing of his latest troll is unfortunate though.

This comes after he went full Finebaum and made various statements such as "this clearly involves cheating" -  Smith publicly urged the Big Ten to punish Michigan before an investigation was completed or Michigan had a chance to respond. This rush to judgment without factual basis exemplifies jumping on the bandwagon for clicks - not something I'd be thrilled hearing at a thought leading sport and business conference.

Personally, I've decided to skip his speech, but hey that's just me.

It would be awesome if he showed up to an empty room.

Or even better, pay a couple guys to go in there in full OSU gear and be the only ones who show. Real type-casted loser types (in case the gear didn't make that part clear already).

I like Stephen A, but I disagree with this take. I typically disagree with his takes when it comes to anything related to college sports, hockey (he disrespects the sport) and sometimes baseball. I'll listen to him when it comes to NFL/NBA because that's his specialty. He's not paying attention to all the details, so I'm not surprised by this.

If I was in Ann Arbor, I'd go listen to him because the fact remains that he is one of the leading voices in the sports world. I would like to hear what he has to say when he's not trying to get clicks.

I don't take him seriously. It's (mostly) entertainment to me and I think he's pretty good at being entertaining.

The sad thing is that guys like him and Skip Bayless used to be journalists. They had careers I grew up wanting to emulate. Now, they make $$$ behaving like people I run into at the barbershop.

Don't boo him. Ask him pointed questions about how all the ESPN personalities hate on someone at the same time. They are increasingly like Fox News in the Ailes era.
