Starting OT's in the future
O'Neill was highly rated. As is Schofield and Lewan. After Ortmann and Schilling have left 2 of these 3 will probably start in the OT positions for multiple years. Assuming they live up to expectations. Does O'Neill start with one of them and the 3rd guy starts only his senior year. Or do one of these 2 incoming guys overtake O'Neill while he's still here? Predictions?

But its a good problem to have.

and say that we don't have this problem because at least one of them leaves early to be a top 10 NFL draft pick.

What about Omameh? It looks like he will start well before O'Niell. And with 2 solid guys a year behind him, O'Niell may never see the field as a starter.

reports are that he has a good frame and good work ethic and relatively good altheticism but that his technique was terrible and he was not as strong as necessary.
He will likely not see the field much this year.
Of our last year tackle recruits, Ommammeh is most frequently mentioned as being in the two deep next year, along with Barnum and Khory in the interior.
It is difficult to project what will happen with O'Neill and the two tackle recruits down the road, but they are all considered high upside "projects" at this point.
We will know more after Spring Practice re O'Neill.
Lewan may have the most upside of the group though given that he has only been playing tackle for a year.
Three very good prospects though for 2010 and beyond, just wont be much help next year.
There will be plenty of playing time for all of them if they live up to potential.

Based solely on in the info we have now (guru chatter etc.), it would seem Omameh and Lewan are the most likely future stars. But, more than anything else, O-line recruiting is a crapshoot. Like Brian has said, if you have more lottery tickets, you increase the odds you'll find a winner (or two).
That said, we are looking pretty good at the position for the forseeable future. Lot of young talent.

Lewan's film shows him to be the most athletic OT I have ever seen in high school. Guarantee he starts for 2 seasons at some point for big blue.

I see your Lewan starting for 2 years and I raise you a 1/2 a year.
(Making that a starter for 2 1/2 years for the mathematically un-gifted)

I meant he would be a 2 year starter at least. I have never seen film like that and I have been following this for like 8 years

itll be interesting to see if he can add the weight and maintain his athleticism. as of now hes still really long and lean. hes gonna need to put on a good 30 lbs to hold his own. Right now hes listed as 6'7 270. thats not a lot for such a tall guy

Keep in mind that those numbers are usually measured over the summer before their senior seasons. Since he is a lock to RS, that means that he won't even be considered until 2 years after he weighed in at 270. 15 pounds a year isn't tough for a guy that big, so he could be playing weight by the start of his RS frosh year.
