Stanford Grad Transfer...

According to rivals site..

Stanford sources feel senior defensive back Wayne Lyons of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. is  working on the  transfer process to play at Michigan for his fifth year. He was the Rivals  107 player in the 2011 class.  May help a position of need quickly.

A highly intelligent CB (check out his H.S. gpa, SAT score) with a Stanford degree and a lot of game experience?   Yes, please.  This would give us someone who can come right in and play, and buy some time until we can recruit a few studs in the 2016 class.

I'll approach it just like I did the JH hire.  When the letter comes in tomorrow I'll be happy and pleased.  Until then it is a nice hopful thought.  I didn't get in invested in the "It's Happening" until I saw Coach H. behind the podium.

Why would a starting senior in a top-tier defense, program, conference, and university decide to chuck it all for one season at a rebuilding program? Yeah, Harbaugh and all. But this transfer hardly seems likely -- unless the kid has somehow fallen out with his team. But I've seen no indication of same.

EDIT: If his mother just got a job at UM, I guess that's motivation enough. But does anyone have any meaningful indication that her son is actually hoping to transfer? Or are people just assuming? If so, that's a big assumption.

Guess I am confused why he would leave Stanford.  They are a good program in a good conference and he is doing well there.  Why uproot your life like that - strange.

Harbaugh is a persuasive guy.....Wayne will have his Stanford undergrad degree......and, apparently, his mom works at U of M? As a Stanford fan, I can say he was one of the MAJOR "gets" 4 years ago - Stanford has always had the reputation (valid) that they're unable to recruit athletes in the secondary. Landing Lyons was a BFD in 2010. While I hope he doesn't transfer out, I have to say his play on the field has never come close to his 4* rating/press clippings. He's good and I expect will be very good in year 5. He's never been a shut down corner. Teams always picked on him (generally successfully) with Alex Carter at the other corner.

Maybe he wants to further his architectural design degree to more of an engineering degree. Sounds like a very smart kid, plus playing for Jim Harbaugh doesn't hurt his chances to play in the NFL if he wants to do that.
