Softball Regional Final Currently Airing on ESPN2
The regional final just kicked off. The game is against James Madison, whom Michigan beat on Saturday 1-0 in 12 innings.
This game features the same two starting pitchers in Beaubein and Good, so it will more than likely be another pitchers dual.
If Michigan wins this game, it's on to the Super Regional. If they lose, they will have to play another game right after.
0-0 After 1 inning
Just wondering if there's any chance Michigan could host a Super Regional if they advance out of the Regional?
I've looked at the bracket and it appears a lot of higher-ranked seeds are through, so I'm assuming not. But hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can opine.
Today's winner will go to UCLA for the Super Regionals.
James Madison looks tough. Seems like this will be a nail biter.
S/O to the fans in attendance. Still appears to be a damn solid crowd despite the postponement.
Well that bunt attempt backfired...

Lots of LOB in this game. Somebody needs to bust this open
I know the other game was close but didn't Michigan leave a bunch of runners on base? If they convert this time it could be lopsided.
Left a hanger on 0-2 and the JMU batter didn't miss. They draw first blood. I have a bad feeling about this game
Only 1-0. Still a long way to go...
Michigan screwed by weather again.
Aren't both teams playing in the same weather?
I think the point was the extra day benefited JMU more as they had an extra game and pitcher was likely in desperate need of rest.
JMU had to play twice on Saturday, and would have had to win twice yesterday, meaning winning the last two of 4 games in under 36 hours. The weather allowed their pitcher to get some crucial rest. While it's true that softball pitchers can throw a huge number of pitches, Good threw 182 pitches against Michigan on Saturday, and asking her to throw another 200+ the next day would have been a lot.
Wish I knew. Watching and thought it was a replay. Just sitting in Plymouth having a craft beer. Could have supported live.
Huge missed opportunity! Bases loaded with 1 out and they pop out to the infield then ground out to second.
Can’t leave bases loaded in games like this one.
Solo Home Run JMU. 2-0 Them, Bottom 4.
Can’t rain all the time.
Over the 2.5 games against this JMU pitcher Michigan has scored 1 run in 25 innings. Its not great.
Offense has disappeared in the postseason these last few years.
Let me guess: you want Hutch fired?
How is a smaller school like James Madison able to compete at this level?
I dunno- ask the Loyola, Chicago basketball team from last season. Sometimes you just gel and get on a roll.
we are not a small school, just a young school with a very passionate and large fan base.
we win at almost every sport we play, and at the national level too.
3rd game should be another nail biter and down to the last pitch.
Hoping they come out looking better in the final game. The offense has really struggled against elite opposition this year. Let's go ladies!
I'd have to think our second pitcher is better than their second pitcher. If not, we don't deserve to win.
Softball pitchers can throw a lot of pitches, my guess is its both teams #1 pitcher to start game #2.
our 2nd pitcher is definitely not as good as Good, who is one of the best in the country. But she's no slouch. She has better raw numbers, but part of that was because Good is coming off missing all of last season with a knee injury and took some time to get back going at the beginning of the year.
I'd expect runs to be at a high premium again in game 3.
James Madison (16) was ranked ahead of Michigan (19) in the NCAA Division One Softball Rankings posted on May 14, so it won't be a shock to see them win this regional. Michigan has scored only one run in 28 innings in three games against James Madison this season.
By winning the Big Ten tournament, Michigan got the 15th seed in the tournament. Had 12th-ranked Minnesota beaten Michigan in the Big Ten championship game, then James Madison might've been hosting this regional.
1 run in 28 innings......yikes. That's pretty darn awful.
Looks like Michigan will be the only school to host a regional and not advance to the next round. Not great, Bob.
You wish ty, you wish. if only MSU could give you something to cheer for instead of a winner to always cheer against.
Damn, it's too bad lil Romo didn't want to follow in her sister's footsteps. That's been the difference between being a great B1G team and a top national program over the last few years.
Good season ladies, unfortunately it didn't end the way we wanted. But, we have a championship for 2019 and that is something to be proud of. Way to go Coach Hutch and team.
