SIAP: MBB: Jaylen Brown may take OV to M
I was just over at UMHoops to give myself a pick-me-up. I see that Jaylen Brown, Rival's number 2 prospect for 2015, is considering an official to Michigan. He is from Georgia, but his mom is a MSU grad and his uncle is a Michigan grad.
We don't have any 2015 recruits yet and there may only be two spots. If we land this guy all I have to say is... Beilein, man, Beilein!

His hairstyle would complement D.J.'s very well.
If he goes Blue, he could be a lottery pick after two years in the system.

I highly doubt he'll be in college for 2 years. He's a one-and-done player most likely

the NBA draft so he's pretty much as good as gone after his freshman season.

but our "veteran leaders" consist of a sophomore and a career backup junior. This team is not about tenure.

Would be pretty happy with a Jaylen wearing the maize and blue.

His ties seem deep enough that we may have a chance to pull him out of the south.

could make for a crazy season next year. Lose Levert to the draft and swap him for this guy, and everyone else a year older...YEAH...

Main positive I see for any chance is he considered Georgia Tech which is not a "traditional power" and is an academic power. That said we are very late in the process and analysts said this is out of the blue (pun intended). But once you stay overnight in AA and have subs - any damn thing is possible.

Another positive thing is his May timeline for making a decision. That gives Michigan plenty of time to catch up in his recruitment. I think Beilein and staff can wow him well enough. It will probably come down to how serious academics are with him. That will be the main factor that can pull him away from the one and done factories.

for developing players is going to carry a lot more weight with some recruits. We no longer have to hang our hat on our academics when competing with traditional powers other than Duke.

Beilein ... awesome comment today at media day.
Beilein says when he got here, plan was to have "A lot of great senior nights. Hasn't worked that way."
Beilein: "The gift is from Austin Hatch, to every one of us" not the other way around.

In a perfect world, Beilein would have a twin brother of identical abilities and character who coaches football.
I know ... but it's nice to dream.

No basketball on grass! MANBALL! Seriously, a Beilein football coach would be the ultimate spread guru.

Consistently developing that jumper will be key because he has all the tools to be great. Kids athleticism is off the charts. Fun to watch.
