Shout out to the Children of Yost

I am not sure how this happened, but I was at the UM-MSU hockey game at Munn tonight.  Let me tell you, the UM student section DOMINATED the arena.   There was one huge block right across from the State students, and it was not even close.  The Yosties were yelling things like Let's Go Blue, Little Brother, and many other cheers throughout the game,  The State students were rendered silent (granted, the game flow dictated that our fans could take over the building).

My favorite moment was going over in the 2nd intermission and telling them how awesome they were (and getting a standing O),  And then of course, they sang the blues brothers right after State's intermission song ended (actually, they started before they were even done)

it was impressive, loud, and very emphatic for them in there,

The "Children" were so awesomely loud and visible on TV tonight that if not for such things as the ugly center ice logo and the puck drop by Mel Trotter, it would have been easy to mistake tonight's game for a home game

I was there too.  It's been years since I have been to Yost and see them on their home turf.  My wife who is an MSU grad noticed them too.  They were great!

My burning question is where did them singing the alphabet come from?  Were they taunting Sparty?

Before you can read and write you need to know your “ABC’s”...they do this before the call and response “Can’t Read —- Can’t Write” to mock there “go green — go white”. They did this in Yost earlier in the year. It’s a public service that the Children of Yost do for the edification of Sparties young and old.

What makes it even sweeter is it seems MSU was trying to pump up their student attendance by giving away free shirts (according to a sign held up by someone in the Sparty student section and shown on the tv broadcast stating "we came for the free shirts").
