Semi OT-Writers VS Gamblers

If people are loading up on the Iowa moneyline, then they're paying a lot of juice. Thats -165 right now, meaning you'd have to wager 165 to win 100.
Smart gamblers, or at least the sharps who make a living at it, are loathe to play moneyline favorites, so I'd like to question just who Rovell is talking to. If Iowa on the moneyline is all that is getting action, that leads me to believe that MICH +3.5 might be the play on the side.
I'm thinking hard about taking the home dog. But, I am not a pro. Just a dude in Ohio.

As Brian has said, the lines, gamblers, are the most accurate predictors. This is not to mean that they are perfect and that the lines are not manipulated for different reasons.

If a writer guesses wrong, he writes another column the next day, and knows he has a paycheck waiting for him at the end of the week. If a gambler guesses wrong, he might not eat.
I'm giving it to the gamblers on the "intangibles."
