Barring any crazy rivalry voodoo (Auburn nearly pulled that off two years ago) if Alabama finds a way to limit or outscore LSU then they'll head to the SEC title game with one loss. I don't trust Kentucky to win a meaningful game in November, they're basically SEC Maryland. They find a way to beat a 12-0 Georgia, again *sigh*, and they'll probably both be in. Again. *deeper sigh*

Especially if the Pac-12 continues to find a way to eat its own. UW looked wobbly and has a tough schedule ahead. Does the committee take a 12-1 Alabama and 12-1 Georgia over a 1-loss Pac-12 champ? Probably.

Might need an undefeated Big XII, B1G and ACC team to keep them out in that scenario.

The difference between Bama and LSU is that Bama actually plays defense.  It may not be the death trap defense of a few years ago, but it's plenty good enough to drastically slow down and Big 12-ish offense like LSU runs.  And LSU has no defense.  Zero.  LSU has a USC level defense - need I say more?

Don - cupcakes?   Are you sure about that?   Let's look at Bama's "November" matchups over the past few years - and, the results.   This is usually the weekend prior to the Auburn game.

Nick Saban has said for years that he wants to upgrade the level of competition Bama faces.  Saban's first season with Bama was 2007.  Take a look at how these games turned out.  Of course - all of these games were played in Tuscaloosa - a home game for the Tide.

2023 - Chattanooga, TBD

2022 - Austin Peay, 34-0

2021 - New Mexico State, 59-3

2020 - Covid season

2019 - Western Carolina, 66-3

2018 - The Citadel, 50-17

2017 - Mercer, 56-0

2016 - Chattanooga, 31-3

2015 - Charleston Southern, 56-6

2014 - Western Carolina, 48-14

2013 - Chattanooga, 49-0

2012 - Western Carolina, 49-0

2011 - Georgia Southern, 45-21

2010 - Georgia State, 63-7

2009 - Chattanooga, 45-0

2008 - Arkansas State, 35-0

2007 - two notable games against certain competitors.  The opener was a win over one of Bama's traditional rivals - Western Carolina by a score of 52-6.  While the November contest against UL Monroe was a loss with the score of 21-14.

I see your point - and, cupcakes seems to be an accurate description.  Don't forget - it's the SEC and it just means more.  The B1G, as a conference, apparently - doesn't have the courage to schedule FCS opponents late in the season.

I love these.  Especially how they do them so quickly, and relevantly, after the weekend's games.

People like to trash this series because of "not invented here" jealousy, IMO, but they are a lot of fun for fans of college football.  If there was a Big Ten version of this, we'd all say it's the greatest thing ever.

Alabama and Ohio State 2023 remind me of Michigan 2021. Neither team knew what they were at the beginning of the year. Both teams are finding their identity as they play. Both are talented, and I think either of them could win their conference.

I know lots of you think the PSU-OSU game proved PSU doesn't have an offense. But if you look at OSU/Notre Dame and OSU/PSU you can make the argument OSU has found a defense.
