The seasons of discontent
Right around the time that Evan Turner released the three point missle that crashed into M nation with untold force, a realization came to me, that shot is going in.
In recent years, there has been an almost unexplainable change in the way that Michigan fans are viewed. "Michigan fans are entitled" is the consensus, "Michigan fans are irrational homers that believe they are beyond reproach." None of these thing are true. What most don't understand is that Michigan and Michigan athletic fans have something a little more invested than the average fan, this is kind of a way of life, Michigan athletics are a big part of the my life.
The last three years have been one manic, indecipherable heartbreak. The swans of 2006 left the lights on for a moment. It had been a long time since Lloyd Carr has smiled, and I was beginning to believe that he had had his last Gatorade shower. I was reminded for one season what Michigan really was, and what they could be. Last years NCAA basketball team took me back, it took me back to when Michigan hoops were the talk of the nation. The swagger came back, if just for a moment.
Turner's three pointer couldn't have gone in, it is not possible, it is not possible that Michigan can sustain another unexpected and brutally unfair turn of events. These moments have to subside. The Freep picks RR as their punching bag. Roundtree an inch from the endzone against Illinois. Kalen Lucas from 16, Evan Turner from 61. NCAA investigation into a bunch of committed players simply working hard. What is this?
Mitch Album said of Chris Webber in Fab Five after the famed timeout that "God has to have a plan for Chris Webber or their is no justice in the world at all." There is a plan for the maise and blue. With every devastating event that transpires, I am consoled only by the fact that the victors will return. There will be good. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Strangely, the darker it gets, the more I'm convinced that when the stars aline and this program gets what coming to it, it is going to be something worth the wait.
Hang in there. Just a little while longer.

Kennedyish. There is no doubt that it is pulitzer worthy. For the newspapers that desire my services based upon the writing, "reee-tain-er." Chucky-Good Will Hunting.

And they will be in the form of recruits with more stars next to their names.
Try as we might to deny it, or to be encouraged by the old Diamonds in the Rough approach, when Michigan starts getting back to talent levels that gave them the puncher's chance (the one-inch needed against Illinois, a guy who can at least force Turner to stop dribbling at half court, a goalie who can steal games and prevent third-period collapses), they'll win.
No one "deserves" to win or lose, and the Godz are too benevolent to give a rat's turd about sports (provided there ARE any Godz). You get talent, you coach it up: you earn victories and championships.
"Now I’m not a highly metaphysical man
But I know when the stars are aligned you can
bump into person in the middle of the road
look into their eyes and you suddenly know"
That despite the fact you'll need to know the name of a good divorce lawyer in five years, the two or three great times in the sack you'll get should be worth it all.
We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
Regardless of the debate on who this speech mirrors, well stated is all that needs to be said. +1 sir.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight, so your god will eventually favor Michigan over its rivals? God has nothing to do with it. It takes hard physical and mental work, tough decisions, adaptability, and refusing to be complacent - here on the ground. The gods, whoever the are, have nothing to do with it.
I guess you haven't seen the Ten Commandments
Ok, I guess I'll take Moses on our side. But who is our serpent that eats all the opposing little serpents? Martin? Campbell?
Good question. Not sure maybe one of the local experts can chime in. But we do have the burning (Hawthorne) bush, we bout to unleash on unsuspecting QB's
oops double post, I guess God forced my hand, hallelujah
