Scouting Report: Laquon Treadwell
This week's scouting report is on Crete (IL) Crete-Monee wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. I had a hard time coming up with a player comparison for him, because he's different than a lot of the guys Michigan has seen over the last 20 years or so. I do think he's a good prospect and could really excel with Shane Morris throwing him the ball.
I know we talk about recruiting ad nauseum 'round these parts, and maybe I missed something recently, but are there any updates on his status? I know he was at one-time a very heavy Michigan lean, but haven't heard much in weeks. It would be cool if he hopped aboard the Hoke Express.
Think I heard he's supposed to be visiting for a Spring practice soon for a 3rd or 4th time which is a good sign
Nice, thanks for posting. Besides Isaac, he's probably the top recruit that I hope jumps on board.
Also, just because I can't help but notice: the first line in the report says "Holes offers from..." I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be holds, no?
Fixed it. Thanks!
His tape is full of long TDs, but honestly the guys chasing him look slow to me. VERY impressive offer list, so I'm sure he's a legit 4*.
It's not the greatest competition, so yeah, I don't think he's going to be catching tons of 80-yard touchdowns in college. But he's got pretty good speed.
looks like he's got that classic 2-strides = 5 yards thing going for him.

every guy runs differently. Denard is a long-strider, whereas A-train's strides were quite short. I'm pretty sure A-train is a bit taller than Denard.

Denard doesn't stride. He floats.

great catch. I need to proofread my comments better before I post.
Let's hope his counselors at Crete-Monee are on top of his foreign language requirements.

He's a big time player, and just as importantly as that is the fact that he is a big time player that fills a need that we have.

Only 14 of the Rivals top 50 receivers are committed at this point. There's plenty of time.

Magnus, where would you say Treadwell ranks among the WRs you have scouted in the 2013 class?
Of the guys we've offered, I would probably only put him behind Robert Foster for sure. Dukes, Gladney, Wheelwright, Bradshaw, Quick, Massington, Onwualu, and Oliver would be behind him. I haven't watched enough of Stringfellow, LeMay, Daniels, Larue, Ateman, or Benjamin to figure where they would fit in.
