SB over PSU in 5 innings
The SB Team scored early and often against Penn St today at Alumni Field. The Good Guys came away with an 8-0 win.
Lauren (Sweet) went deep twice and had 4 RBIs. Kelly (Christner) hit 1 dinger and went 3 for 3. Romo and Tera (Blanco) had 2 hits each.
Megan (Besta) was the starting and winning pitcher. She had a No-No heading into the 5th inning but gave up a hit. This is her 8th shutout of the season. Her only issue was that she gave up 5 BB while striking out 9.
We finish the regular season this weekend. One more win and we will clinch at least a share of the Big Ten Championship. A sweep of PSU or one loss and a loss by Minny will clinch the 8th Straight Big Ten Title.
Minny defeated Purdue so we sit in 1st place with 2 conference loses and Minny has 3 conference loses. We both have 2 games left in the regular season.
me. Plus we get to clinch (hopefully) at home. The weather is nice this weekend and the place will be jammed.
Top 4 in the order were absolutely dominant today. Michigan now has FIVE separate players with double-digit home-run totals on the year (Christner, Romo, Lawrence, Susalla, and Sweet). That's the kind of scoring ability the can really drive a tourney run.
On a related note, anyone know why Susalla was held out? She's been playing really well, so I have a hard time thinking it was a coaching decision.
