I wonder if the season Rodriguez has had this year make somebody like Leach think twice about taking a job where his system might not fit right away. I'm just thinking in terms of Auburn where a system built on speed failed miserably this year and probably wouldn't work much better next year with Leach's system no matter how good of a coach he is. It seems like a pretty similar situation potentially to Michigan this year, except throw in a bunch of insane boosters, incredibly impatient fans, and a merciless, satanic rival (ok that part is the same.) I sure wouldn't want to walk into that if I was Leach no matter how much money/pirate apparel was offered. My guess would be that he stays at Tech, although watch me look like an idiot in the next few days.

He is what I have heard out and about the rumor mill on this situation: UW actually offered Leach the job. Leach wanted to give TT a chance to respond. UW said they need to know now. Leach would not give them an immediate answer. Both parties went separate ways. Its being reported that TT may raise Leach's salary to $3 mill is he stays. While Leach's name does come up in the Auburn opening, they're looking at Brian Kelly (who isnt?) and Turner Gill.....although there are Spurrier rumors, but nobody down there buys into that. Sorry, I am not the Knowledge, but that is what I now of this situation......through the grapevine, of course.

I have to add this update. I just talked to a customer of mine in Texas. He directed me to this story, which I have linked here.......he has his own scuttlebut.....saying Leach sucks at interviewing and UW never really offered him a job.......wow, just as murky and confusing as a different coaching search that took place a year ago, right!?!?! Anyway, here is the link. Basically its a story that says the TT AD told people well before the season he is OK with losing Leach and there's no more money in the budget for a pay raise. Leach's base pay is "only" $300,000.....of course, appearances and coaches shows and the like, he ends up in the $1.5 mill ballpark when its all said and done. http://www.kcbd.com/global/story.asp?s=9462231 Still, it interesting the TT AD tells people this week, we're negotiating, but an internal memo reveals they have no dough for more raises. Interesting.
