Anything not strictly forbidden will occur within a range of probability greater than zero. Persuasive evidence suggests that Brady Hoke exists in this Universe and thus the retention of Brady Hoke appears not impossible. Way.

See what I did there? Also, consider how the AD has been managed since the departure of Don Canham, and the interim director is a rank amateur at the position. Maybe Brady's new mega contract extension will be announced tomorrow.

Sleep soundly tonight.

there is a chance. If you were to retain him you'd give him the ok as soon as you would the axe. I think he's gone but I think it's crazy (us being Michigan) to assume he's 100% gone. I think he is but I think the very small but real chance he's retained involves cleaning house on his staff. Maybe Hackett's "big hires" are guys like Wheatley, a great OL guy, etc. One would/could be given the associate HC title as HC in waiting. Again, unlikely but not impossible. The timing seems to scream Hoke is gone but if so we better hope Hackett has his guy. It can't be: cya Brady, you sure Jim? shit, you sure John? dang, you sure Les? wow.....can someone get DeBord on the phone? He HAS to nail the hire.

The next CC must be surefire. The least worst option at present, in the mind of the interim AD, may be to retain Hoke and replace some position coaches if the desired target head coach is not attainable. Just like you said.

OTOH at this time Hackett may not be in position to publicly announce a CC decision was made. We may need to wait a little while longer, meanwhile Hoke may have been tasked with recruiting the new guy's prospects under a transition plan.

I don't think anything can be counted out right now. Until Michigan turns back into Michigan (or stops being?) I honestly don't feel confident saying he's 100% gone tomorrow or at all. You could be right and the one thing that is undeniable is that if Hoke is fired, we cannot afford anything less then a homerun hire. Ok, maybe a triple but it has to be a sure thing.

Or heck, any Harbaugh, opts to become HC I may get his headphoned silhouette tatted on my "carlosspiceyweiner." Although I am concerned Da Missus might attempt to prolong the post-tat swelling there.

and none on their top HC list wanted our job. Does Hacket keep Hoke or try a small school or coordinator as coach? Odds are that the news will be Hoke's dismissal but knowing this athletic department it would not surprise if Hoke got a new 3 to 4 year contract extension. If that's the case you can count me in driving to Ann Arbor with my pitchfork and torch!

I fear that absolutely no word from Brian on this means he knows that Hoke is being retained and is so pissed, he literally can't speak. Hopefully irrational fear.

If they were firing him, wouldn't they just have done it sudden and privately and announced it after? Why bring the extra media attention by announcing a meaning to discuss? That's pretty Lebron-esque. I just don't see what benefit they would gain by announcing they were having a meeting?? Just have the damn thing and tell us the results

The people who think they aren't firing him don't seem to get the fact that you don't announce the meeting unless you are firing him.  If you are keeping a coach you would just release a statement.  its that simple.
