RR and Magee

Submitted by 909Dewey on
What is the dynamic between RR and Magee? RR is so closely associated with all things offense, yet Magee is the OC. What is that relationship? Does RR develop the strategy and CM the tactical playcalls, vice-versa? Does anybody know? I don't know if this has been discussed before. Was RR OC at WV before he brought in CM?

Magee calls the plays, but RichRod can overrule him on the field. That's who Rodriguez is always talking to in the headset. I know this because I'm with WCBN and our booth is right next to the coaches in the press box. We have heard them argue (especially last season) and through that it has come clear that Magee calls the plays, but Rodriguez has to agree. I'm sure that's the relationship with alot of coaches/OCs.

McGee is listed as an assistant head coach. The true head coach has a lot of hats to wear (motivation, recruiting, personel managing, program oversight, etc.) Having someone you consider a peer handle as large a schematic process as our offense is must be a large benefit.
