Rivals: Sept. Statement Games ('Sota v. USC)

Such a huge upset (and at the hands of a "bad" Big 10 team) would send USC into a tailspin... and lead Gopher fans to believe they are actually good (until their 2-6 Big 10 record shows otherwise). September can't come soon enough

teams will be color coordinated at least. I'm a gopher fan for the day.

Sept. 11 is the bonanza football day for fans in 2010. Some of the highlights

  • Georgia at South Carolina
  • Georgia Tech at Kansas
  • Colorado at California
  • Florida State at Oklahoma
  • Michigan at Notre Dame
  • Miami (that miami) at Ohio State
  • Oregon at Tennessee
  • Penn State at Alabama
  • Stanford at UCLA
  • Virginia at USC

I'm asking my wife for an all day hall pass.

Here's a cool link someone sent me this a.m. Say what you want about LSU football, but these guys were nice enough to post the entire TV schedule for the season.

That TV Schedule deserves its own post - that is Gold, Jerry, Gold!!!

As for 9/11 games:  Bad News:  If UM beats ND it will be the 4th most discussed victory (at the National level)  after OSU/Miami, OU/FSU, PSU/Bama;  Good News:  If ND beats UM it will not be the one of the 3 most talked about games.

I'll take 4th place

Minnesota will be lucky to get past the Blue Raiders.

To me the September statement game is UNC/LSU.  I think the Tarheels are a top ten team this year.  This game will determine the course of their season.

UConn is trouble BTW.

If we lose to UConn, Brian will either have to add five servers to handle the spike in suicidal ranting posts or just close down the site for a few days.

They are a very good team on the rise.  They are more highly regarded for good reason at this point.  I like this game for it's challenge.  But I have no allusions that it is going to be easy (or to panic if we lose.)   I don't think you do either - I'm just saying - let's not panic.  No Otter needed.

We should best look at this game for what it means to the development of the many question marks we are faced with than as a bell weather for the rest of the season.  We could go in too many different directions to panic after the first game (wrt QB, LB and DL to mention a few areas with question marks...)

If we lost to UConn and ND I think I would be more concerned but  a split at this point is extremely likely.

No/Low turnovers equals a 6-0 start!  We have yet to see that kind of football from Michigan in the RR era.
