Rivals Look at Last Four Recruiting Classes Compared to 2014 Results
Rivals did a story today about recruiting rankings in the last four years and how it compared to this year's results. Alabama and FSU are at the top. Florida and Michigan are in there too.
It's interesting to see TCU. MSU and Baylor aren't in there.

Michigan State has been recruiting just outside the top 25, around 30-35 most of the past half decade.
TCU was a Mountain West team in the early part of this time frame - their recruiting should now begin picking up. They have done less with more that's for sure.
Oregon is also not mentioned often as an "overachiever but they are - they have the 2nd best record in the country the past 7-8 years only behind Bama. And they are behind UM in recruiting.

We're the only one in the top 20 that had a losing season.
Coach Miles will have that fixed in short order.

This was a much more comprehensive story by Deadspin with a more rigorous analysis on the same topic.

not developing players. The guys are reducing body fat and putting on serious muscle mass, e.g. the Jabrill makeover shot.
Contrast Hoke & Co. with Beilein's ability to develop talent coupled with the excellent S&C facilities/people at Michigan.

On the bright side.....Muschamp wasn't our coach

It comes down to talent development, and unfortunately we have not excelled there as of late. Three words will fix that:
Jim Harbaugh Fergodsakes!

Does rivals conclude they suck based on recruiting rankings and Michigan's results?

There are plenty of misses, to be sure. Florida is the overall No. 4 and Michigan is No. 14 -- two programs who fired their coaches after multiple sub-par seasons. And Baylor (No. 39), TCU (No. 32) and Mississippi State (No. 34) all far out-performed their four-year team recruiting rankings on the field in 2014.Pretty much shows who is a good head coach and who isn't.

You can be lucky with a few recruits but to me this is just another induction WHY we will be on top soon.
Michigan recruits and MSU does not ... Bottom line.
Jimmy will kick sparty's butt!

jimmy is not coming sadly. but all we need is someone who can recruit like hoke and even be a marginal coach and we will be good. dantonio will not stop being a good coach just because we get a decent coach. we already get more talent than him.
