Risk Day 18 - Stanford Is Kind Of A Pest, But INFINITELY Preferable to OSU. Also, GO CHAOS!

Submitted by Michigan CFB R… on April 9th, 2020 at 11:16 AM

Last night was....fine. We lost on a couple rolls where we were favored, and where it would have been nice to win. But on the whole it was fine. That's the nice thing about being bordered by a team like Stanford. While it's annoying to lose territories to them when you're favored, it's not a huge deal. They have the least power (292) and the fewest players (48) in the game, so it's more of a nuisance than anything else. It would be a lot more worrying if OSU had Nevada and Oregon, which is why it was such a big deal that OSU lost its western territories.

Speaking of OSU...they still basically own the Northeast, but Chaos (the team for players whose team died) is proving quite the headache for them. Team Chaos has infiltrated upstate New York and now borders 7 OSU territories. Chaos is a uniquely difficult opponent in this game because there's no telling where it will attack on a given turn -- there's no strategy....just a bunch of freelancing trolls. SO annoying when you're their target, and SO helpful when your opponent is their target. Go Chaos!

Finally, we might finally be getting some help in the fight against TAM. If you look at the Risk Heat Map on https://collegefootballrisk.com/leaderboard, you'll notice that Arizona looks like it's on fire compared to the rest of the country. That's because TAM is surrounded by allies, and so they've been able to push almost all of their power against us. That may change this turn as Texas is now touching two territories in its home state. While it's difficult to predict exactly how the incorrigible 13 year old farm boys that are Team TAM will react, it can't hurt to have their rivals applying pressure.

With all that said, we're in solid position right now. And we actually have more players than OSU (though we're still behind TAM)! You guys are doing great, and we're counting on you to keep it going. Visit MichiganCFBRisk.com, visit @CFB_Risk, and sign up for the Discord (https://discord.gg/JJJh3Gc). And most importantly, Go Blue! Beat OSU! Also....please don't attack GT. We don't want to make GT mad. They would be a bad enemy to have.

Way to go guys!  We've jumped OSU and TAMU is within striking level.  But, we can't let up!  Everyday we make a jump it seems they make a jump in return.

I have just started playing this week. For those of you who haven't signed up to play yet, it is super easy. Once you have a reddit account (which take 30 seconds to set up) it takes like 15 secs to play each day. Get your assignment on one site and click a team logo to defend or attack on the other. That's as simple as it gets.

Tried signing up and accidentally selected Arkansas as my team because of a terrible web UI that wouldn’t scroll. Now I’m stuck as part of team chaos. Any way to update my team? Super annoying.

Random Question, can team Chaos be eliminated? I am just confused as to how they got a territory at all if their team was eliminated. Or did they just pick one up randomly after all attacking a space after they were eliminated?

All effort should be made to eliminate Stanford.  You may think of them as a mere annoyance but now you have 15 territories, all of which need to be defended.  You really aren't going to get anywhere until you can minimize the number of territories that need to be defended.  It doesn't seem like there is any strategy.  Trying to defend the current position is a total loser.

Decide a goal and then put all your resources to achieving it.  If you try to do too many things then you will fail at all of them.  The current position will just get you unending churn as it will take all your resources just to more or less hold this bad position.  Be bold and commit to a single goal.

There is still time to move on to a next goal after the first is accomplished and you will find it easier to be single minded.  So what is it?  Stanford?  A&M?  Ohio State?  Plenty of time to punish anybody rather than being everybody's punching bag.
